Most models record the front camera in 4K and the rear camera in 1080p. Front and rear recording is commonly 30 FPS in many models, though exact resolutions and frame rates can vary by unit.

Many units include built-in GPS for location and speed logging. Some also provide a detachable GPS antenna that enables automatic time updates, on-screen speed/compass readouts, and the ability to view driving routes on a smartphone when reviewing recorded video.

These systems offer parking mode and proximity‑triggered recording—motion or proximity sensors will auto‑trigger recording when an object or person is detected. One mirror‑style unit, for example, is described as triggering if something comes within about 10 feet.

Typical wide‑angle coverage is around 140° for front and rear lenses. Some systems offer multi‑angle or 360° surround options for broader monitoring, depending on the model and lens configuration.

Videos can be transferred using the microSD card (cards may be included or supported up to 256GB) or via USB‑C connections. Some models support connecting to external drives or SSDs (examples list support up to 2 TB over USB‑C).
