Most listings explicitly state that batteries are required but not included. At least one listing notes batteries were installed for that specific item.

Many battery-operated stars use AA batteries (commonly 2 or 3 AA). Smaller toppers often use 2 AAA. Some string-style star lights list USB power or indicate no battery use.
