This selection uses paper plus several plastics (listed as Plastic and Polypropylene), steel, and polyurethane for folders, boxes, dividers, and document holders.

Many items are sized for standard letter paper (8.5 × 11 inches). Some boxes and organizers also note compatibility with both letter and legal file folders.

Each hanging folder is listed with a capacity of up to 100 sheets.

File boxes commonly list sturdy carrying handles or contoured grip areas, in-lid compartments for small items, durable latches or tight-fit snap lids, indexed tops for stackability, and some note accommodation for a small padlock or use of a zip tie.
