Bake at 275 °F (130 °C) for 15 minutes per 1/4 in (6 mm) thickness. Do not microwave the clay and do not exceed the recommended temperature or time.

Before baking the clays remain soft and flexible and do not air dry, so unused clay can be stored and reused. After baking the clay hardens; premixed original clay can be sanded, drilled, carved, and painted with water-based acrylics.

Work on an oven-safe work mat, wax paper, a metal baking sheet, or disposable foil to protect surfaces while crafting and baking.

Store oven-bake clay in a cool, dry place out of direct sunlight—ideally below 77 °F—to maintain quality for a few years. Refrigeration or freezing can extend shelf life; exposure to high heat may partially cure the clay.

After baking and cooling, premixed original Sculpey clay can be sanded, drilled, carved, and painted with water-based acrylics. You can also bake pieces and then paint them the color you choose.
