There are two main types: flameless LED tealights (plastic or wax housings with battery-powered LEDs and realistic flicker) and traditional wax tealights made from paraffin, palm oil blends, or palm wax, each with a single wick.

Tealights are sold in small and bulk packs. Common counts include 6, 12, 24 and larger multipacks up to about 100 per pack.

Typical burn times fall in the 3–4 hour range. Example listings show scented wax tealights up to about 4 hours and an unscented paraffin option around 3 hours.

Available scents include ashwood and palo santo (with patchouli and oakwood notes), vanilla bean and amber, mint, lavender, eucalyptus, peony, cherry blossom, cozy cashmere, and unscented options.

LED tealights are battery-operated. Many listings specify CR2032 lithium button-cell batteries and indicate that those batteries are included — pack examples show 24, 12, or 6 CR2032 batteries depending on the pack size.

Tealight heights typically range from about 0.4 to 1.5 inches, and diameters in the examples shown are roughly 1.4 to 1.47 inches.

Most listings indicate tealights are intended for indoor use, though several explicitly list suitability for both indoor and outdoor use.
