Extra Sharp White Cheddar Cheese - 8oz - Good & Gather™

Delicious! I will repurchase this every time I go to target now. For $1.99 ? Can't beat that.

First, I prefer white cheddar over orange cheddar because the coloring/annatto is an unnecessary added ingredient, imho. Now, this Target brand of "Extra Sharp" IS a bit more sharp than their regular Sharp Cheddar, but it is still miles behind other brands that age their Extra sharp cheddar much longer, like Cabot's or Tillamook or Cracker Barrel. I buy this Extra Sharp when I want a regular sharp or even mild cheddar cheese. If I want a truly Sharp cheddar, I go with the brand names. If you love cheese...and I do, you should consider making a one-time purchase of an 8oz block of the store brand and 2-3 same-sized blocks of the well-known brands and trying them side-by-side. IF the cheese is the highlight of your recipe, I'd consider spending an additional $1.38 for a block of Cabot's Sharp cheddar. If you're making a casserole, use the Good and Gather Target brand in the mixing of the dish and use a brand name on top. If making cheeseburgers, I'd spend a bit more. If you're cutting up cubes for your child's lunch, use the Target brand. Just remember, this Extra Sharp Cheddar really isnt Extra Sharp. I suggest using it in the place of Medium cheddar of the higher priced brands but not as a Sharp nor an Extra Sharp cheddar.

Consistently good flavor and taste! From brie, to camembert, sharp cheddar is one of my favorites, and this cheese stands out as a very lovely sharp white cheddar cheese! It doesn't have the bite of an "extra" sharp cheese, but it certainly has the lovely flavor! Try it for yourself, I'm sure 4.7 stars means this cheese can hold its own on the flavor scale.

“Extra sharp” is a lie. I can’t taste ANY sharpness. It is just a creamy white cheese with no taste. If I wasn’t lazy, I would drive down and return it! What a rip off. Really disappointed. Old Croc is WAAAY better

This cheese has no taste. Very far from extra sharp cheddar.

In my humblest cheese opinion, that is the furthest thing from “extra” sharp. The block was tasteless to me, I would not even classify it as mild cheddar. Also, the texture was rubbery. I was excited by the price but it’s not worth sacrificing the taste and texture.

This doesn’t taste like extra sharp cheddar. It has a medium taste and texture. If you love extra sharp cheddar skip this because you’ll be disappointed.

For a company whose HQ is a state over from the cheese capital of America, I expected much more from this. I understand the price is reasonable, but this was waxy like cheap mozzarella and tasted like Monterrey Jack. No bite, no flakiness or texture. Disappointed. Any other “store brand” I’ve had has been far superior.

Love this Target brand! Great for making queso, spinach dip, or on your favorite sandwich. Great price with a Tillanook taste.

If you’re needing something for a recipe just for texture, I guess it’s fine. It tastes like nothing, though—not just a mild cheddar—it has the texture of cheese, the look of cheese, zero taste, none. If you like cheddar, just spend the extra $1 for Cabot.

We love this cheese. I would say the taste is very similar to Cabot Vermont Extra Sharp. I like to put it in the freezer so it’s extra crumbly once I cut into it.

This is quite possibly one of the blandest tasting cheeses ever. I agree with others here - it is offensive to even call this cheddar. I don’t know what it is, but it ain’t right!

Attempting to navigate the cheese aisle, I was regrettably led astray by Good & Gather’s Extra Sharp White Cheddar Cheese, a product so deplorable it makes one question the fundamental decency of humanity. Promising a "sharp" experience, this product delivered the culinary equivalent of a dull butter knife. The flavor, if you can call it that, would make a saltine cracker seem like a symphony of taste in comparison. It was blandness reincarnated, an affront to every cheddar that has ever graced a charcuterie board or melted into a gourmet sandwich. The texture - dear heavens, the texture - was an unparalleled disaster. The rubbery, plasticky feel was a slap to the senses, summoning to mind the cheapest of play-dough rather than a purportedly high-quality dairy product. This didn't just cross the line, it obliterated it. In fact, this cheese was so tragically subpar, I was compelled to establish the Cheddar Police, a self-styled guardianship against such grotesque crimes against cheese. The mere existence of this product is a blatant disregard for the legacy of cheddar, a betrayal of the trust we consumers place in food manufacturers. To the creators of this cheese - we need a word. Please reconsider your place in the food industry if you believe this travesty is anything close to acceptable. Anyone in search of a fulfilling cheddar experience, I implore you, run in the opposite direction. This product is an existential crisis in edible form.

Good cheese would get again

We buy all kinds of Extra Sharp Cheddar cheese, white being our favorite of all. We've tried plenty such as Cabot, Tillamook, Market Brands, etc. None have ever tasted, looked or cooked like this cheese. Would not buy it again, in fact I'd make sure to avoid all Good & Gather cheese altogether. They've got amazing products mostly, but they failed at cheese.

This does not taste “extra sharp”. I wouldn’t even classify it as “sharp”.
