Q: For what period of time will the "readings" be accurate, meaning will it ever need "calibrated" or need the sensor replaced?

submitted by John - 4 months ago
  • A: Hi there, the sensor will never need to be replaced. We recommend letting the device take samples for at least 30 days to get the most accurate readings possible.

Alerted me to a major Radon issue!

I've been using this for the past few weeks and it alerted me to extremely high levels of Radon in my basement. I love that it is easy to use, pairs with an app, and you can keep track of how the Radon levels are rising and falling and get averages for it. I also like that it tracks temperature and humidity as both are very important to know in my basement as well. I have wondered for quite a while if I had high radon levels but my suspictions seem to be absolutely correct that they are well above the recommended levels. I will definitely be looking into getting a radon mitigation system installed while I continue to use this to track and monitor the Radon levels in my home. Highly Recommended for any homeowner with new and older homes alike.

We’re really glad the monitor helped you confirm what was happening in your basement and gave you clear, easy-to-understand data. Tracking radon over time, along with temperature and humidity, is exactly what it’s designed for, and it’s great to hear it’s supporting your next steps. We appreciate the recommendation! Greetings from Norway!

Simple, Easy, Pricy, Clean App

I have now tried it for a while and it is very interesting to follow the data over time! I can see the variations around Radon, Temperature and Humidity... Since I see that I don't have any issues with Radon, it might be just as good with a one-time-only check hence the need for a permanent Radon checker is not needed, but I could see if somebody had an issue it would be good to monitor how different adjustments on ventilation and such helped. The humidity is interesting to follow! As expected in Sweden itr goes down as it is getting colder! But on spring I should need to make some adjustments even though I also have a dehumidifier in my cellar... When it comes to Temperature I have a cold cellar, but it is important for me to monitor that the temperature never goes down towards 0 degrees celsius, that would be a problem. A simple device with only 3 things to measure, and since I will not need Radon measurement any more it now is a regular temperature and humidity meter, and I think it is a very expensive such device even if i needed to monitor Radon. The app dont have so much extras but shows what it is supposed to. Would be nice to be able to integrate to the data and access the data in my smart home setup. I will look in to the open api:s of Airthings and see what can be done is my plan... I cant say anything about how long the battery will last but for the prize I hope it will be fine for at least a year...

Simplicity above all

The product is very easy to use, and you don’t even need to connect it to a mobile phone to make use of it. That’s definitely its strength, but also its weakness, as it lacks more advanced features such as smart home support like Matter, and it doesn’t have any Wi-Fi connectivity at all. Something I also miss is the ability to display a clock and to automatically rotate between screens. If you choose to connect the meter to your mobile phone, you’re met with a good and easy-to-use app that guides you and provides suggestions for actions when high readings are detected. Overall, I’m very satisfied with the product, even though I miss the ability to connect it to my other smart devices. I recommend the product for those who don’t necessarily need a fully connected meter and who value simplicity.

Good device, easy robust.

Easy to set up, easy to use and simple app. Good value for the money. Minus is that it’s cloud based and in order to get the data to homeassistant or such you need to sync the device via Bluetooth to your phone or buy a separate hub. I device in this pricerange should have WiFi, zigbee or other protocol for smart home.

Works for me

I bought this radon detector after hearing about radon issues in older houses, and I’m really glad I did. Setup was easy just put in the batteries, place it on a shelf, and within a day or two it started giving readings. I like that it updates daily, so I can actually see how the radon levels change depending on weather or when I open windows. The Bluetooth app works smoothly, and the historical graphs are easy to understand even if you’re not technical. It gives me peace of mind knowing I can track this invisible gas without paying for constant lab tests. For the price, it’s a great tool for home safety and totally worth it.

Works well

I wasn’t sure what to expect when I ordered the Corentium Home 2, but it’s been surprisingly helpful. I live in a basement apartment and always worried about air quality. This device gave me an actual number to look at instead of guessing. The digital screen is clear, and it updates automatically, so there’s no fiddling with settings. I really appreciate how it connects to my phone and stores long-term data, which is nice for checking trends. It runs on regular AA batteries, which makes it portable, I’ve even moved it to different rooms just to compare. It’s reassuring to know my radon levels are low, and I feel more informed about my living environment.

Grat device, but you need more to make it smarter

An easy to use radon detector (that also measures temperature and humidity) with a nice large and clear display. Connected via Bluetooth to your smartphone to feed data into the AirThings app. In theory that is all great, but at least I have had instances where the Bluetooth sync stops working until I turn Bluetooth off and on on the phone. Then it works again for a period of time. I do not know whether the fault is in my phone or the device or the app though. The display is large and clear, but unfortunately it can not show values from all sensors on the same page or view. You have to press a touch button on the front of the device to switch between the different sensors or data. That is sad since the screen is large enough to fit everything on one page. The device can be hard to place, since it has no wall bracket, and the base of the device should have been wider to prevent it tipping over of you bump into it or the furniture it stand on. It is easy to operate the device and use the app, but being an already expensive device, it gets more expensive of you want it to sync data to the cloud without having to use your phone and remember to do it manually all the time. You need either to buy the AirThings Hub or an AirThings View device, which can act as a hub. So you will have to buy more devices than only the Corentium Home 2 to make it as smart and easy to use as it should have been from the box... Also, if you check the product page on AirThings website for the Hub, it does not mention support for Corentium Home 2, but the page for Corentium says it is compatible with Snart Link devices, which is confusing. But I bought the Hub and tested it out and yes, it works with the Hub device from AirThings. So basically, be prepared to cough up some dough, so to speak, to make this device as smart and autonomous as it should have been right out of the box.

Good

I’ve been using the Airthings Corentium Home 2 for a bit now, and I’m really happy with it. It was super easy to set up, the screen is clear, and I like being able to see both short- and long-term radon levels. I move it around the house sometimes and it still feels accurate and solid. The app is simple and useful, even if it only syncs via Bluetooth and not Wi-Fi. It’s a bit pricey, but honestly, for the peace of mind it gives, I think it’s worth it.

Great device but read this first!

Got this device a couple of weeks ago, since I wanted to display - to just be able to see the Radon values without having to sync with my phone (like on the display-less Wave devices). I can happily report that the device does what it claims to do, and the display is nice, large and clear. However, I miss a feature where I would be able to see values from both the radon sensor, humidity sensor and temperature sensor on the same page/view on the display at the same time. Now I have to press the touch button in the front to change views, but the display is large enough to fit all the values I think. Also, to make the device sturdier, I would like to have a wider base, since de device is elongated. If you smash into the furniture that it stands on (for instance when vacuum cleaning), it may tip over easily. Accuracy-wise it seems good in the sense that its values converge with the Wave Plus that I have, within a few Bequerels. That's uplifting to see. Syncing the values to the app works okay most of the time, but I've had recurring issues where my AirThings devises stop syncing in the AirThings app, until I reset the Bluetooth on my phone. If the issue is in the phone or not I cannot say, but I had that issue over the years both Huawei P20 Pro, Xiaomi Redmi Note 10 Pro and Asus ROG 6D Ultimate. But the app is nice one you get your values in there, with graphs showing the values over time from all the devices and sensors. However, I am a bit sad that the device does not have WiFi to sync with the cloud automatically without my phone. Only Bluetooth. On the product page for the Corentium Home 2 device it says that it supports SmartLink, but when I checked the pages for "AirThings Hub" or the AirThings View devices, the Corentium Home 2 is not shown as a supported device. Anyway, in the best scenario, you would have to buy another device to get the auto-sync to cloud without having to sync via your phone all the time. So, all in all. a nice device with a large display, but there are annoyances.

Perfect for my family

I chose this radon detector to make sure our home is safe for my baby and wife. It’s compact, battery-powered, and gives clear readings without needing Wi-Fi or complicated setup. I started getting results within 24 hours and tracked long-term levels over the week. What I like most is how portable it is-I moved it between rooms to compare radon levels. The screen is easy to read, and the added temperature and humidity sensors help me monitor indoor conditions more closely. It’s quiet, reliable, and doesn’t need constant attention. For a family managing asthma and allergies, this device gives peace of mind. It helped me spot a radon issue in our basement, and now I’m improving ventilation. If you care about air quality and want something simple and effective, this is a smart choice.

Smart way to track home air quality

This device is simple to set up and gives clear updates on air quality right on the screen. I like how easy it is to read and how quickly it shows changes in levels. The app connection is convenient, though Bluetooth can be a bit limited compared to Wi-Fi. Overall, it’s a reliable and modern way to keep your home’s air safe and monitored.

Smart way to track home air quality

This radon detector is easy to set up and helps me stay aware of my home’s air quality. The screen is bright and clear, and I like that it connects to my phone so I can check the levels anytime. It feels reliable and well-made, though I wish it had Wi-Fi instead of just Bluetooth. Overall, it’s a helpful and smart device that gives peace of mind about the air we breathe.

Simple but good

I bought the corentium home 2 in order to measure the radon levels in our basement. The device is extremely simple to use. It has a grand total of three buttons. The front one cycles between the different measurements and the two hidden behind the battery compartment hatch is only used to switch units and turn bluetooth on and off. The radon levels are displayed as a rolling average and the current measurement. When you pair the device to your smartphone it downloads the historic values and they are displayed in a nice graph. My only peeves are that you have to buy a separate hub to get it to sync without a smartphone and that you have to register for an account in order to use the app.

Easy to use and useful.

Great tech that impresses me with easy installation and slick app. Useful and lovely looking app with temperature, humidity and radon logs. Only downside I can see is that it lacks WIFI which means I have to sync the app to get updated values. Would be better for my home assistant if the connection was via wifi instead. Cannot say anything about how accurate the radon measurement are but it looks good anyway!

Clear and Simple

I picked up the Airthings Corentium Home 2 because I wanted something easy to use for checking radon levels in my house, and it’s been great so far. The setup only took a couple of minutes — just add batteries, link it to the app, and it starts tracking radon, humidity, and temperature. The screen is clear and simple, and I really like that the app color-codes everything (green, yellow, red) so I instantly know if things look safe. It’s super lightweight and portable, so I move it from the basement to the living room when I need to. The Bluetooth sync works well, though I wish it had Wi-Fi for automatic updates. Still, the readings have matched what my radon test kit showed, so I trust it. It’s quiet, accurate, and gives a little extra peace of mind about what’s in my air. Definitely worth it!

Breathing easier

We purchased the Airthings Corentium Home 2 after learning about how radon can silently impact indoor air quality. With a baby and asthma in the house, we didn’t want to take any chances. The device is unexpectedly sleek and fits seamlessly into our living room decor. Setting it up was simple: insert the batteries, place it where desired, and it begins monitoring immediately. Our favorite feature is its ability to provide both short-term and long-term radon level readings, allowing us to identify patterns and respond if necessary. It operates quietly, without flashy lights or complicated controls - just reliably ensuring our home’s safety. For families like ours, it’s more than just a gadget; it offers peace of mind.

Peace of mind

Setting up the Corentium Home 2 was a breeze. Simply insert the batteries, place it in a common room, and it began displaying readings instantly. What I particularly appreciate is the app’s ability to provide consistent radon alerts, allowing me to monitor long-term changes. This feature is incredibly helpful in understanding our radon levels.

Two weeks with new radon tool

First two weeks with Airthings Corentium Home 2 and the feeling is positive! Very easy installation. If you as a user can manage to download the official app you're there! The app and the display are clear and easy to understand. The information is only super clear regarding radon measurement and how it can be reliable. The tool also includes temperature and humidity measuring.

Very good product

Does exactly what it purports to do. The only caveat is I wish it had WIFI built-in so I could monitor the radon level in my house when I'm not home.
