ANTIGONE. VELOCITY. SALT. shatters the myth of Antigone, rebuilding and remixing it into a spiritual inquiry into Palestinian grief and mourning as sites of both settler-colonial violence and indigenous resistance.


Interweaving scripts for an impossible performance, shards of surrealist mythmaking, and dreams of individual and collective resistance, the book opens with the practice--enshrined into Israeli law--of withholding the bodies of murdered Palestinians from their families. Within Palestinian strategies of resistance, Fargo Nissim Tbakhi locates a slippery, collective Antigone--the tragic Greek mythological figure who sacrifices her life to give her brother a proper burial.

Through a fragmented retelling, ANTIGONE. VELOCITY. SALT. elucidates a political orientation to grieving in the face of power. A non-linear act of burial and a plea for wholeness, ANTIGONE. VELOCITY. SALT. is a journey towards repair, in direct and sustained opposition to settler-colonial cruelty.
