This whole situation sucks and I'm a long time target shopper

You can't access all options without a backbone subscription and you can't get that unless your 13 and that's not publicized anywhere. Purchased as a gift, and it's last the return window even though it's not a mobile phone it's apparently held to the mobil phone 14 day window. Who would have ever guessed that while reading the policy. I would have assumed it to be an electronic with 30 days so now we are stuck with a device he can't fully use for 3 years.

This is a scam. Just like other reviews, Target is selling Gen 1 as a Gen 2. This is definitely not Gen2, I should've ordered it directly from the brand.

A Passable Handheld Option

The Backbone is an inexpensive option for mobile gaming. It works fine for what it is. It's not right end by any means. Just a simple way to play your games on mobile. Unlike the PlayStation Portal, you can use connect the Backbone to your console just by using the mobile data on your phone. Or you can use any Wi-Fi spot available. You aren't just limited to using it for PlayStation games, either. You can use it to play almost any game from Google Play and such. That being said, this is definitely a third part device that's approved by Sony. It's not set up like the Dualsense Controller for the PS5. Some had said that the Backbone's buttons feel cheap. But honestly, they felt fine to me. That also said, I didn't care for the Backbone all that much. It's just okay to me. I decided to return it. I feel like the 100 dollar price tag isn't totally justifiable for a device that should probably cost like 404 of 60 dollars at best. Overall, not a bad investment if you're perfectly fine with a device that's not totally high end. It'll do the job in the end.

Sold wrong generation

Controller felt nice and comfortable to play. Feels like holding a lighter Nintendo Switch with how thin the controllers are. However despite Target saying it is Gen 2, they sold me a Gen 1 based on the SKU number found on the bottom of the box above the barcode. So to help avoid buying the wrong generation model, please refer to the SKU list I included that is also available on Backbone's website.

V1 of backbone! Not v2

This is v1 of the backbone. That means you can not use phone cases. Doesn’t seem like target knows if they are selling v1 or v2 but I got v1.

Great, but this in 1st Gen

It feels nice, but I had to return it because target currently only has Gen 1 which doesn't fit well with cases. Gen 2 is a bit more spacious. This version should fit any USB-C phone without a case though.

Love it for travel

I purchased this to play while traveling. I normally play on PS5 so figure this would translate over (it does). Great for travel. I use a Samsung s23 and typically use either Wifi at the airport or 5G and it works great. I also play offline games (Sonic!) on flights unless they have Wifi. Lots of perks/free trials as well, which was cool to try.

I take the product everywhere with me. It is easy to use and I can play with my PlayStation at home. I use it a lot at home as well, because my kids have taken over the TV.
