Description

Whether you're celebrating a birthday, classroom party, or even book club night, the Balloon Time Medium Helium Tank makes it easy to float your fun. It's just the right size for a couple small to medium balloon bouquets or a festive statement piece without going overboard.

Just turn the green valve (4 full turns to open), slide your balloon onto the black nozzle, and gently press down to fill. Pro tip: stop inflating when your balloon looks like an egg, not a lightbulb. Overfilling can shorten float time or cause balloons to pop.

Under the best party conditions, helium floats standard latex balloons for 5 to 7 hours. For happiest results, inflate balloons 1 to 2 hours before your event and keep them indoors, away from heat or direct sunlight. Want to float even longer? Treat your latex balloons with an additive like HI-FLOAT (sold separately) before filling, and make sure you're using helium-grade balloons, not air-fill only.

Before you float off into party mode, here’s one last thing to keep in mind: balloon size really matters. This tank fills up to (25) 12-inch latex balloons, (27) 18-inch foil balloons, (4) 36-inch foil numbers, or the (50) 9-inch latex balloons included in this kit. Your count may vary depending on how full you inflate or if any balloons pop.

We’ve spent more than 40 years making helium celebrations simple. When you're ready to party, we're ready to help.

Q: Can I take it to El Salvador by plane

submitted by Leonor - 8 years ago
  • A: yeah you can for sure

    submitted byabc123 - 8 years ago
  • A: No

submitted byBalloonTime - 8 months ago

  • A: Probably too late for the original poster, but hopefully this is useful to future inquiries. Helium is a non-flammable compressed gas, and as such is categorized as a Division 2.2 hazardous material in the United States and Division 2.2 dangerous good in El Salvador. Such articles can be offered as cargo on aircraft, but cannot be brought on board by passengers nor offered in checked baggage. There are certain exceptions (see 49 CFR 175.10) but helium for balloons is not among those exceptions.

submitted byHazmat Lawyer - 6 years ago
  • A: You should probably contact the airlines with this question.

    submitted bymsmot219 - 8 years ago
  • A: Although the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) does not specify helium tanks, it refers to campers' propane tanks, et al., as follows: "Empty propane or gas cylinders are allowed in checked or carry-on bags as long as our officers can see inside." In other words, you would have to remove the valve and regulator/inflator, which, of course, would mean that the helium would escape! So, the answer would seem to be, "You cannot take this or any other kind of closed cylinder on board."

submitted bySteven - 1 year ago
  • A: Hello, and thank you for your question. Our standard tank is designed to fill 30 nine-inch balloons, or 16 eleven-inch or mylar balloons. Our Jumbo tank is designed to fill 50, nine-inch balloons or 27, eleven-inch or mylar balloons. Q: Is this tank refillable? IF I run out of helium, am I able to refill the tank?

submitted by Cheryl - 9 years ago

Q: How long is the tank good for between purchase and the first fill-up? In other words, if I buy it now will it lose any effectiveness between now and Valentine's day?

  • A: It doesn't loose any effectiveness while in storage. Had mine for months and use every now and then to fill up a balloon and still works fine.

    submitted byMels2310 - 8 years ago

Q: Where can it be disposed of as it is a gas ? as I believe it cant be thrown into the rubbish?

submitted by New Parent - 9 years ago
  • A: There are instructions on how to recycle it. There’s a spot to puncture a hole with a hammer and screwdriver then you use a permanent marker to indicate that it’s been emptied. It’s not that difficult.

    submitted bymjl411 - 9 years ago
  • A: The instructions say to remove all air from the tank, first, using the nozzle as if you were blowing up additional balloons (I suggest you do this in a well-ventilated area, as direct exposure to helium is considered a potential health threat), then, punch a hole in the unit where specified (it's a ring near the top of the unit), then circle the punctured rink with a permanent marker and write the word "EMPTY" above it. You may NOT be able to dispose of it through your regular trash/recyclable pick-ups, so you may be forced to bring it to a local metal recycler/salvager/junk yard, who MAY pay you for whatever the metal (steel) is worth. Or call your local trash/recycle yard to see if they'll accept a delivery (n.b., some will accept such for free, but some may charge you for the privilege).

submitted by Ashley - 9 years ago

submitted byJess - 9 years ago
  • A: Thanks for your feedback—we’re sorry to hear you didn’t get as many balloons inflated as expected. Our Medium Tank is designed to fill approximately 30 nine-inch latex balloons. However, many latex balloons sold today are 11” or 12" in size, and larger balloons require more helium to fill. Our medium tank will fill up to sixteen 12” balloons. Have more questions? Feel free to reach out to balloontime@wthg.com and our team will be happy to assist! 🎈

Guests are saying

The helium tank offers a convenient solution for inflating balloons at home, making it ideal for parties and celebrations. Many guests appreciated its ease of use and portability, allowing for quick setups. However, there are concerns about the longevity of the helium, as some balloons deflated sooner than expected. Overall, it serves well for small gatherings, especially with latex balloons, but may not meet expectations for larger events or foil balloons.

Don't buy it!!!!!!!! Didnt last long enough. All the balloons are on the floor!!!!! So expensive for just the air
1 reply from BalloonTime team - 5 days ago
Hi there! We're sorry your balloons didn’t float as long as you expected — we know every moment of celebration matters! Latex balloons typically float 5–7 hours, but things like heat, humidity, balloon age and quality, and over- or under-inflation can shorten float time. It’s also important to make sure you pull the knot tight to seal the balloon. For a longer float time, use HI-FLOAT (sold separately), which coats the inside of latex balloons and helps them float longer. We’re here to help get your celebration back on track—just reach out to us anytime at balloontime@wthg.com. 🎈

If you need a quick photo op - it's fine. Aside from that, wouldn't purchase again. Float time is not long enough. Thankfully I did read to blow up your balloons 1-2 hrs before your event. My balloons were inflated at 11am, deflated by 3pm.

Hi there, Thanks for your feedback—and we’re really sorry the valve gave you a tough time. We know the fun shouldn’t start with a struggle! Because our tanks are sealed tightly to ensure no helium escapes, the valve can sometimes be extra snug the first time you open it. Here are a few tips to get things flowing more easily: • 💪 Use a dish towel or washcloth for extra grip when turning the green valve counterclockwise. • 🔧 A small wrench can help if it's really tight—just turn gently and avoid over-torquing. • 🔄 Be sure to turn the valve 3–4 full rotations before inflating. Once loosened, it should open more easily for future use! Still stuck or have questions? We’re happy to help—just reach out to our team at balloontime@wthg.com and we’ll do our best to get your celebration back on track.

Horrible. Not a single balloon floated. It was full of air. I have used these before with much success. must be a faulty tank.
1 reply from BalloonTime team - 12 days ago
Oh no—sorry to hear your balloons didn’t float! 🎈 We know how frustrating that can be, especially when you’re trying to celebrate something special. One common culprit? Some balloons are made just for air—not helium—so they won’t float even if they’re inflated with a helium tank. We recommend checking the balloon packaging or label to confirm that they’re helium-compatible. Still unsure? We’re here to help! Send us a photo or a quick note at balloontime@wthg.com, and we’ll take a look. We want to help you get the most out of your celebration.

    Worked for me!

Worked perfectly for me It had more than enough helium to fill my house with balloons. I got a giant mylar inflated, 4 standard mylar and about 15 latex balloons. IF YOU NEED TO BLOW UP MYLAR USE A STRAW AT THE VALVE IT WORKED PERFECT. The latex balloons died pretty quickly but the mylar ones are still going strong a week later. The latex balloons provided in this kit are lame I do not recommend using them they're too small , I used a bag of latex balloons from the dollar store and compared to the balloons provided in the kit, the dollar store balloons were significantly larger. all in all I would repurchase the tank but not use the "kit".

Our portable tanks are designed to bring joy to any moment—helping you decorate with ease at home, on-the-go, or anywhere in between. We’d love to hear more and see how we can help. Please reach out to our team at balloontime@wthg.com so we can assist directly. Thanks for sharing your feedback—it helps us keep improving for every celebration to come. 🎈
