Warning: Gingerbread House may cause loss of self-confidence

I wanted to buy a gingerbread house kit for my 2 year old son to make. I didn't realize it wasn't a pre-made kit --- my fault for not reading the description more clearly. To make it, it took about four hours...

Disappointing.

I ordered it so I can bake with granddaughters who love baking at Christmas while staying at an airbnb with a small kitchen. I knew I'd need to order extra candy for decorating, but I hadn't anticipated needing an egg, molasses, parchment paper, cookie sheet and rolling pin, which necessitated a trip to the grocery store, as well as needing extra time for dough to chill so the project stretched over 2 days. Dough was easy to make but didn't bake symmetrically enough to assemble easily and icing didn't dry well enough to make pieces adhere, which was frustrating. Tasted pretty good, though.
