Captivating images reveal intimate and often hidden moments: ghost orchids blooming high in cypress trees, prothonotary warblers threading through cypress knees, and endangered panthers searching the sloughs and uplands for prey.

About the Author

Mac Stone is a National Geographic Explorer and acclaimed photographer, author, speaker, director, and conservationist. Stone is the author of Everglades: America's Wetland. He has photographed for National Geographic, the National Audubon Society, World Wildlife Fund, bioGraphic, and The Nature Conservancy. He is a senior fellow of the International League of Conservation Photographers and the executive director of Naturaland Trust, a nonprofit that protects mountains, rivers, forests, and wetlands.
