About the Book
"A middle grade graphic horror novel about two brothers who must uncover what terrors may be lurking in the depths of their local creek"--Book Synopsis
From the creator of The Sleepover comes a horror graphic novel for kids about two brothers and their friends who set out to uncover what terrors may be lurking in their nearby creek. Perfect for fans of Goosebumps! There's nothing that Wade and his younger brother, Andrew, love more than fishing together. As summer draws to a close, they're excited for one last hoorah before classes begin and they end up at different schools for the first time. But a typical fishing trip with their best friends, Camilla and Tommy, quickly takes a darker turn. As heavy fog creeps over the creek, Andrew hooks something big--too big. In a moment of chaos, the brothers end up overboard. There, in the murky depths, they get a glimpse of what waits at the end of the line. And it seems far more monster than fish. Wade and the others wonder if the recent hurricane that hit the area may have stirred up more than just water, unleashing something horrible from below. Their parents don't believe they saw anything at all. But if there really is something out there, the kids know someone needs to stop it. So, they decide to do what they do best and go fishing for their biggest catch yet: evidence of a real-life river monster. Will these four friends be able to prove everyone wrong and save the creek, or are they about to discover they're in way over their heads . . . and in deep trouble?Review Quotes
"Nonstop action threaded with heartfelt emotion offers a satisfying reading experience." --Kirkus Reviews "Michael Regina's beautifully written and illustrated graphic novel, Deepwater Creek, is a nautical nightmare full of monsters, mystery, bravery, friendship, and family. It's a fast-paced, action-packed story about facing our fears in order to take care of the people we love. Regina is the master of gorgeous, heartfelt middle grade horror in the graphic novel space. I adored it, and thrill-seeking middle grade readers are going to eat it up." --Lora Senf, Bram Stoker Award winner and author of The Clackity "With Spielberg and King as his wayfinders, Michael Regina's Deepwater Creek is fast-paced, heartfelt, and in parts terrifying. This is the kind of book I'd have devoured as a kid." --Douglas Holgate, illustrator of the #1 New York Times bestselling The Last Kids on Earth series "Deepwater Creek is an absolute blast! An adventurous fishing trip downriver that gets swept off into Lovecraftian monster territory, with a cast of well-realized young characters fighting desperately to not become fish bait. Throw in beautiful watercolor art and a big beating heart beneath all the soggy mutants, and you have a real trophy winner!" --Trevor Henderson, author of Scarewaves
"Michael Regina is making meaningful, masterfully crafted, middle-grade horror stories unlike anything else on the shelf." --Josh Ulrich, author of The Terrifying Tales of Vivian Vance
