DeWalt Genuine OEM Replacement Stud Finder - DW0150

This is just not an acceptable product. Please DeWalt product team, just buy a Franklin sensor so you can see how well a stud finder can work. 99% of my tools are DeWalt. This product felt cheap. The proximity yellow lights were very inconsistent. The red light and beep would work most of the time close to the edge of the stud but often would miss and even when it found a stud, it would be difficult to determine the center of it because it would not stay on.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Just bought this. Tried to use it for 2 closet remodel. It’s useless, will never say the stud is in the same place. Most of the time it doesn’t show any studs. The electric part goes off randomly also. I’m a big Dewalt guy and was really let down on this one.

A lot of false positives, detects AC in a new wall with no power. Detects studs where there are none. Cannot zero-in on a stud or it's center.

I absolutely love DeWalt tools however this one does not measure up the the quality we are used to. It is slow to register and not always 100% accurate. Is there a better version Dewalt stud finder that is more reliable?

This thing couldn't find itself it was up it's on you know what. 8 missed holes later and nothing but drywall, granted it's a old house but the walls are thin. Junk, just use a stud buddy.

I have many DeWalt tools and I am usually very happy. I bought this stud finder based on previous reputation of the brand. I did not research it at all. The instructions that came with this tool are terrible - worse than useless. They are an embarrassment to the DeWalt name. And without instructions I'm not at all confident what the lights and beeps are telling me. And so I went on line and was very surprised at all the poor reviews for this tool. I could be drilling into a wire or pipe or who knows. I would not recommend this to anyone at this time.

I have had this for over a year now. It has never worked. Just carried around so I can have it mock me when I think "This time. Maybe this time it will work." The power comes on when you hold the button. Supposed to stay on while you drag it along the wall, but it goes off after 3 seconds. Even new batteries... Newer batteries... Recharged full batteries. I have NEVER actually found anything behind a wall with this device. It pains me to say it about a dewalt, but it is garbage. Not even worth the price of gas to go to the store and return. Not even if you are driving right past the store. Really. It is just bad.

I bought this to find studs for hanging cabinets worked great it was accurate the electrical finder is a nice added bonus . Fair price

You will have more luck finding a stud by knocking on the wall. Went to DEWALT website to see if there was a user manual with instructions, but there were none to download. Was redirected to a site which sold manuals.

1. The wire detection feature is pretty much always beeping and blinking at me, even when I know for sure there are no wires behind a wall (I tried on a piece of drywall I had laying around. 2. The stud detection is very inconsistent. 3. Instructions are …light … and not very useful. It seems like the some of the people who posted reviews on this side had better instructions than the one that came in the box since they seem to know how a lot about how to use the product. 4. All the 5 stars reviews on the site are from “incentivized” reviewers. Which Sort of make sense I guess?

On all the walls it indicated studs, and the ac detector the same. No English lanquage instructions were included

So first off, I was very displeased with this stud finder, I was about to return it. However since my old stud finder stopped working(not dewalt) I had no choice but to try this unit again. I'm rather glad I gave it another go. After giving it more time after pressing the power button, and going slower, this unit worked flawlessly every single time. However I was working on a known wall that I just sheetrocked, but was still a tad hesitant when I went to an unknown wall to hang the cabinets that needed to go up. But going slower and giving this little thing some time to "warm up" each time I used it, I became very confident in it's ability to do what it's advertised to do. However the instructions that are included with this stud finder are a joke. Also you have to move it fairly slow, which I'm not used to with other brands. But all in all I'm very happy with it.

All I was getting was AC detection in an area of the wall where there was no electrical - unless 4ft away counts. It never found a stud. I did the "tap" method to locate a stud then ran the tool over that area - nothing found. Pay more for something else, if you can.

This item has great potential, but its accuracy is substantially off. If I were to believe this device, I'd literally have live wire in every wall. Having direct knowledge of my live cabling, I know the device is wrong. As for finding studs, it does well when a stud is detected, however, it will miss studs every so often. Altogether, I believe this product was a waste of time and money.

Performs as described. Very usefull and simple to use tool. Kudos to DEWALT!

Disappointed. Found it to be super inaccurate. I would run it over the same wall repeatedly and each time get different stud readings (none of them ended up being correct). The arrows would light up for extended periods but the stud indicator would never go off. I ended up having to use the “knock on drywall method” to find the stud. Interestingly, none of the tool’s stud indications were correct. This is the first issue I have had with any DeWalt product.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] When I first opened the package I was immediately surprised by its shape. It's not shaped like any stud finder I've used before. Its very flat, and as large as my hand. It's incredibly light however. I installed the included battery and started searching for my studs. Its as easy as placing it on the wall while holding the button down. The lights light up when its on the edge of a stud with arrows, and if your over electrical current the AC button will light up. So far its worked perfect and has spotted every stud dead on.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I like the thickness of this stud finder it’s slimmer than most, do not like the width of the device I feel it is to big, the way that is only seams to pick up a/c wires in the wall is if the circuit is hot, I think think is a downfall
