Book Synopsis
Esme just wanted a bit of escapism. And now reality itself has gone wrong--an electrifying adventure for fans of The Midnight Library and The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy. Esme Good is an unremarkable young woman working a dead-end job in an unremarkable city. Her only escape is The Elsewheres: tiny potions that allow you to disappear for fifteen minutes into alternate versions of yourself. Sadly, these only confirm her suspicion that she is, in a cosmic sense, living her worst life. Then, after a workplace incident that could have happened to anyone, Esme unintentionally becomes the most important person in this--or perhaps any--universe. We don't have time to get into exactly why this is, but to remedy it, Esme must find an uncharted land and fulfill a prophecy that has been on hold since the dawn of time. She has spent her whole life trying not to become a main character. Now, a lot of things are about to happen to her: in fact, everything, and so much.
Review Quotes
"An entertaining thrill ride...Sharp-witted...Clever comedic writing on every page."--Publishers Weekly
"Delightfully madcap, sharply well-written, consistently hilarious, and really very wise about life."--Naomi Ishiguro, author of The Rainshadow Orphans
"Hilarious, page-turning, and brilliantly silly. This book exemplifies all that is good about British humor. It's thrilling and anarchic and entirely unique."--Rachel Parris, author of Introducing Mrs. Collins
"Many authors have tried to walk in Douglas Adams's very large shoes over the years. Most have immediately tripped, fallen, and injured themselves, often quite badly. Andrew H. Murray actually pulls it off. Everything Happens So Much is an absurdist jaunt through the multiverse with a side of genuine feeling. Highly recommended."--Edward Ashton, author of Mickey 7 and After the Fall
"Murray's writing is both an utter joy and so original. Witty, warm, and clever--this book is an absolute riot. I loved it!"--Elizabeth Macneal, author of Circus of Wonders
"Think you know where this book is going? No you don't. A terrific story with a ton of heart, and twists you won't see coming. Buckle up and embrace the chaos."--Jackson Ford, author of The Girl Who Could Move Sh*t With Her Mind
"This book is startling, surreal, and superb! It hums with absurd humor and bizarre action, and is shot through with moments of beautiful tenderness. It keeps you hurtling along, desperate for the next twist, the next laugh, the next revelation."--Daniel O'Malley, author of Royal Gambit and The Rook Files series
"Wonderfully whimsical, wacky, and wise. Who knew that Terry Pratchett and Douglas Adams's lovechild would look like Andrew H. Murray?"--Tim Minchin, author of You Don't Have to Have a Dream and Matilda: the Musical
