Fury in Death: Familiar Faces, Fresh Fire
After sixty-three books, the In Death series still knows how to deliver a pulse-pounding ride—and Fury in Death is no exception. J.D. Robb brings readers back into Eve Dallas’s world with the familiar mix of suspense, sharp characterization, and emotional warmth that makes this long-running series feel like a reunion with old friends. Eve, Roarke, Peabody, and the rest of the gang continue to grow and evolve, and it is always a pleasure to catch up with them. Of course, Galahad deserves his own spotlight: that chubby scene-stealer adds just the right touch of charm and humor whenever he appears. This installment takes a slightly different approach by revealing the culprit’s identity and motive early on, which gives the story a fresh, tension-filled angle rather than a traditional whodunit structure. While I usually enjoy puzzling out the mystery alongside Eve, this format lets the focus shift to the why, the how, and the race to bring everything together. The case itself is intriguing and clever, with intense moments that underscore just how high the stakes are. Some of the darker details are vivid, but they also reinforce the urgency of Eve’s work and the strength it takes to face such brutality head-on. Watching the pieces fall into place was deeply satisfying, and Fury in Death ultimately delivers another gripping, character-rich entry in the series. Best of all, newcomers can jump in and enjoy this book as a standalone—though longtime fans will find even more to love.

Revenge is a savory that is often served cold. In J. D. Robb’s newest book, “Fury in Death”, NYPSD Lieutenant Eve Sally’s is assigned a series of murders that seem to be connected and are some of the most viscous she’s ever seen. As Eve, her husband Roarke, and her partner Detective Delia Peabody follow leads to track the killer, they are drawn to an apartment fire fourteen years ago that was determined to be an accident. But was it really? And how do the recent murder victims connect with it? Follow Eve and her crew as they solve another set of murders to make 2061 New York City safer. Ms. Robb has written another fantastic who-dun-it. The plot is very believable and well developed. There is an expected good vs evil that have some unique twists. I like how characters from the previous books in this series always play a part in the current storyline. It’s fun getting glimpses of them and seeing how they still interact in the current book as well as filling out the story. I’m always amazed at the fact that there is always some new murder case that we haven’t seen before. This book is part of Ms. Robb’s “In Death” series. It can be read as a stand alone book but the reader will get more out of the storyline if the previous books (all 62 of them) are read first. Readers who like futuristic procedural murder mystery dramas will enjoy this book. I wish to thank St. Martin’s Press for the complimentary eARC of this book and for selecting me to review it on NetGalley. All opinions are my own. #FuryInDeath #StMartinsPress #NetGalley #Mystery&Thriller #SciFi

Bullet Fast with Surprising Twists
The latest Eve Dallas novel is a police procedural but also almost a psychological thriller as Eve tries to get into the mind of a killer who operates with rage and totally destroys his victims. The murders are brutal and the killer is on a rampage. Eve and Peabody have their work cut out for them to discover the motive and who the killer is when a business tycoon is found beaten to death in his home office. That is only the first killing as Eve and Peabody discover. The action is non-stop, and the pace is bullet-train fast as Eve enlists the assistance of Roarke to find out what is going on behind the scenes in the company that the victim worked for. The characters, with the exception of the killer and the victims and their families, are the regular cast of characters and enjoyable to see again in the new Dallas book. One of my favorite things about this series are the descriptions of the clothing worn by the characters and Peabody never disappoints with her outlandish and visually imaginative ensemble. Fans of the Dallas series will not want to miss this one as an extra layer of thrilling guesswork is added to the stellar performance of regular deductive reasoning. I voluntarily received a complimentary copy of this book from the publisher via Netgalley. I was not required to write a positive review and all opinions expressed are my own.
