About the Book

God Sees Us is a heartfelt forty-day devotional written by a teen for other teens to help them through life's challenges as someone who knows how they feel.

Book Synopsis

When faced with issues like bullying, homework stress, gossip, or the loss of a friend or loved one, teens can feel like they are alone--even unseen. So at age fifteen, Gianna Joy Guzman was inspired to write a devotional for other teens to share hope, encouragement, and God's love with them.

God Sees Us: Devotions for Teens, By a Teen, on Anxiety, Bullying, Body Image, and More addresses the anxiety, fears, and concerns that all teenagers struggle with. Using her own personal experiences and biblical wisdom, Gianna writes directly to other teens and meets them where they're at, pointing them to Jesus through it all.

"I wrote this book because I want to help other teens know they are enough and help them get through every day without feeling like they're alone," Gianna says.

This forty-day devotional helps teens see themselves for who they really are and challenges them to not let others change the way they view themselves but rather focus on God instead.

Gianna tells other teens, "Even when it feels like no one else loves you, God always will. He loves you more than anyone ever can."

Review Quotes

There is wisdom that comes with age and there are people who are wise beyond their years. Gianna has been through a lot in her young life, and her sincere faith in God and genuine love for others shines through the pages of God See Us. I know her fellow teens will be encouraged.

--Alex Harris "Author, Do Hard Things"

To be seen by God, especially in the midst of feeling lonely, depressed, scared, or stuck, is no small thing. As Gen Alpha navigates the unique challenges of their generation, Gianna's conversational style makes the grace of God accessible. She is honest, kind, and her stories are relatable for teens everywhere. What a rare gift to have a peer whose words can guide people through difficult seasons of life.

--Ashley Abercrombie "Author, Rise of the Truth Teller"

God Sees Us feels like sitting across from a brave, honest friend who isn't afraid to talk about the hard stuff. Gianna speaks to anxiety, bullying, body image, and faith with refreshing authenticity--and keeps pointing teens back to the steady truth that they are seen and deeply loved by God. This devotional will help young readers feel understood, strengthened, and never alone. This is the book I wish I had when I was younger, and one I would share with every teen in my life.

--Holley Gerth "Bestselling author, You're Already Amazing"

Finally a devotional for teens written by a teen! Anxiety, families, body image, frenemies, being misunderstood, stress--all the things teens deal with. Gianna Joy addresses these real-life issues head on, not with preachy advice, but with an authentic, trustworthy voice that has lived through and is currently living through these issues on a daily basis. Gianna's vulnerability and faith make reading this devo feel like chatting with a good friend you can confide in and who offers the best advice of how to not just "keep on keeping on" throughout your teen years, but to thrive with the help and love of Jesus.

--Laura L. Smith "Author, 5-Minute Devotions for Teens"

Gianna makes biblical wisdom more accessible and understandable to teenagers through this book, while empathetically addressing much of the turmoil the younger generation faces. As a mom to a teenager, I feel these devotions are uplifting encouragement that also push young people toward spiritual maturity in Christ and an intimate relationship with God!

--Tori Hope Petersen "Author, Breaking the Patterns that Break You"

In a world where teenagers are constantly navigating anxiety, comparison, bullying, and the relentless pressure to measure up, God Sees Us is a refreshing and heartfelt reminder that they are never alone. Gianna writes with authenticity, pointing readers back to the unchanging truth that their identity and worth are found in Jesus. Through these pages, teens will be reminded that God sees them, loves them, and walks with them through every challenge they face. This is a powerful resource for young people learning to anchor their lives in God's truth.

--Andi Andrew "Author, She Is Free and Fake or Follower"

In a world where teenagers are drowning in anxiety, comparison, and pressure, Gianna Joy offers honest encouragement from someone currently navigating these things herself. These devotions remind readers that God sees them, loves them, and meets them right in the middle of their struggles.

--Jonathan "JP" Pokluda "Lead pastor, Harris Creek Baptist Church"

No one can speak to the heart of a teenager more than a peer. Gianna gives the gift of her words and insights and hope to others her age. She speaks with courage and conviction. Real change can't happen without either of those. This book is a treasure to young hearts seeking to follow Jesus.

--Anjuli Paschall "CEO, Sojourn and Sage ministry"

No one understands teens better than teens, which is what makes Gianna Joy Guzman's writing uniquely powerful. In God Sees Us, Gianna reflects on hardship and struggle with the disarming honesty of a young person, but with the wisdom and lived experience of one far beyond her years. If you are a teen looking for advice and encouragement from someone who "gets it," this book is for you!

--Sharon Hodde Miller "Author, Gazing at God"

This book is a gift from the heart of an honest, transparent teenager to her peers. Gianna doesn't shy away from the hard things teenagers are facing today but offers hope, faith, love, and companionship on the journey.

--Sheila Walsh "Author of Pray Anyway"

This is a book I wish I'd had when my daughters were teenagers. With remarkable maturity, honesty, and hope, Gianna Joy Guzman speaks directly to the real struggles teens face--from anxiety and bullying to questions about identity and purpose. Writing from her own story, she offers the kind of encouragement and faith-filled perspective every young person needs. Gianna is the voice you'd want in your teenager's ear.

--Jennifer Dukes Lee "Author, How to Love Your Morning"

Today's girls face bigger challenges than most of their moms faced at their age. But bigger challenges at a younger age means greater opportunities for spiritual growth at a younger age too. Gianna is proof of this, and like a wise and tender-hearted big sister who has survived dark times many times over, she's packaged her story into a powerful road map for the girls walking behind her. Thank you, Gianna, for showing girls how to find joy, hope, and courage even in their hardest seasons. This book gives me great hope for the next generation!

--Kari Kampakis "Bestselling author, Love Her Well"
