Teller's cheeky, candid photographs of his own work displayed on the streets of Paris
In December 2023, German photographer Juergen Teller's (born 1964) pictures and work were on display everywhere in Paris, following the opening of his major solo exhibition i need to live at the Grand Palais Éphémère--in nine metro stations (sometimes running for over 40 yards), inside lightboxes, on 72 Morris columns and on hundreds of posters and flags. The Sun Will Rise is a documentation of Teller being all over Paris, alongside installation shots of the exhibition at the Grand Palais Éphémère and later at Triennale Milano. The result is a new constellation of images within images where art and commerce, reality and fantasy blur in exactly the unpredictable ways Teller loves. "I need to live," he says, but it's clear his images need to live too.
