submitted byJae - 4 months agoA: Yes- the Nutritional Label on the Sea Salt and the White Cheddar flavors DO state exactly what the OP is questioning, which doesn’t make sense. However, the nutritional label on the Kettle Corn flavor states Serving Size: 1 cup & approx. 5 servings in bag. Caloric value per serving is the same on all bags (which doesn’t make sense for all three either obviously). First person to reply to OP’s query didn’t bother to view or compare all three nutritional labels before responding.

A: Thanks for the question, popcorn labels can definitely look confusing! The bag is 4 oz by weight, but popcorn is super light and airy, so a small weight fills a huge amount of volume. That’s why each serving is listed as 2.5 cups - the FDA requires popcorn serving sizes to be measured by cups (volume) instead of ounces. So even though the bag only weighs 4 oz, it still adds up to about 10 cups of popcorn, which is completely normal for this category. Nothing was mislabeled, it’s just a funny quirk of how popcorn works!

Q: Nutritional labeling is very confusing/misleading between flavors. Sweet and Salty serving size is is 1 cup, the other flavors are 2.5 and 3 cups. What's going on here?

A: The serving size is based on weight (grams). The cheddar and kettle weigh more per kernel since they have more flavoring added.

Very inconsistent batches
I choose this when I’m feeling lazy popcorn snacks. I like that it’s made with olive oil as I do not consume seed oils for better health. What I don’t like is the inconsistency. I purchased my first bag of the plain, just sea salt and it was fine. I later purchased several bags and it seemed they missed putting a coating on it altogether - or it was so light it still tasted like plain popcorn and that was every one of the several bags, so I assume it was all the same batch. Then I purchased more and it was so grossly salty I couldn’t eat it. I love the convenience but wish it would have come without salt - throw the protein powder on that’s fine but let me flavor my own popcorn because I can’t count on this brand to put a consistent coating on. All of that said, it’s always tasted fresh.

I love the idea of popcorn with added protein, since I try to get protein in all my snacks and I LOVE popcorn. However, I got the olive oil & sea salt flavor, and they are quite bland. They definitely need a bit more salt otherwise it tastes like plain, bland popcorn. But love the idea and hope they maybe tweak it to be more flavorful!

I am going to order more and probably even subscribe because I am a popcorn connoisseur and this was GOOD STUFF!
