Q: Is this butter manufactored in a nut-free facility?
submitted by Ilovesleep - 3 years ago
A: We're sorry for the delay in responding to your question. Land O'Lakes identifies “the big nine” (peanuts, tree nuts, eggs, milk, wheat, soy, fish, shellfish, sesame) allergenic ingredients and ingredient constituents on the labels of our packages. Our butter sticks do not contain nuts and, at this time, no products with nuts are made in the stick butter facilities. Please be assured that our plants use good manufacturing practices to segregate ingredients and avoid cross contact with allergens. For more questions, give us a call at 1-800-328-4155.
Land O Lakes butter has been a staple for many guests, praised for its rich flavor and versatility in cooking and baking. While some guests have noted changes in texture and taste, the majority still appreciate its creamy consistency and quality. Many guests highlight its effectiveness in recipes, from cookies to sauces, making it a go-to choice for both everyday meals and special occasions. The packaging and ease of use are also frequently mentioned as positive features.

It's letting me down. I am 85, grew up eating Land O Lakes and have never purchased any other butter. It is not what it used to be. Why? What's different? I am about to begin trying other butters.

Something changed, butter separates when menting
I’m not sure what the exact issue is, whether it’s what their dairy cows are being fed or whether they bumped down their butterfat content to the bare minimum 80%, but I had issues with 3 separate sticks of Land o Lakes butter from 2 separate packages (salted and unsalted) where the oils and milk solids separated immediately when melting over the lowest stovetop heat. Went to store after attempt number 3 and bought some Publix brand and boom…. Issue solved. My Alfredo was finally fixed after ditching the Land o Lakes brand. DO NOT BUY IF YOU PLAN TO COOK OR BAKE WITH THIS.

"Natural flavoring" IS NOT natural
I have bought this butter many times and enjoyed it. My current mission is finding unsalted butter made without "natural flavoring". If it was truly "natural" it wouldn't be an additional ingredient because butter only requires one ingredient: cream.

Different, more like margarine.
I have been using Land O Lakes butter for over 40 years and although you say the recipe has not changed, something has, and it’s impossible not to know it. The flavor seems to be the same, but it does not melt the same, the room temperature butter is harder, and it looks more oily like margarine. When baking with it, it is no longer the same. Such a shame. Whatever you all changed please change back. Money isn’t everything.

Looks Good, Tastes Bad
You guys rebranded and quality is diminished. The "butter" tastes like leftover Plant-Based Creamy Spread has been added. It does not taste like good butter. My frostings and cookies are turning out sub par. My family is complaining, and friends are looking at me funny and asking what I'm doing different.

Natural Ingredients added to butter
The FDA should not allow "natural flavorings" to be added to butter. This is deceitful and not good for the consumer.

Excess liquid
I use Land O Lakes Salted Sweet Butter in my baking and scrambled eggs. Yesterday I opened a new pack, taking a cube out to use for my scrambled eggs. I was surprised to see, as the butter was melting, that there was excess liquid amongst the butter as well. Was something changed in the butter process to cause the excess liquid? I've never noticed this before. I hope to get a response.

We have not changed the butter making process. Some water is naturally present in the cream used to make butter. Please look for an email from us so we can learn more. Thank you for your review.

Has something changed?
What’s going on? I have a “tried and true” chocolate chip cookie recipe that never fails me, and I have had issues the last three batches! They spread out and flat like pancakes, like the other reviewer mentioned,

Tastes great
I love this butter especially on my morning 1/2 bagel, even though I have to cut out salt in my diet. I bought the salt free, haven’t tried it yet but I will.

They changed how it's made and ruined it.
Sadly, they have ruined this butter. We used to love this butter, but it has changed - completely ruined our Christmas cookies. We could not figure out how we were messing up a recipe we had made hundred of times. Then ran to the store and had to buy a different butter - and discovered it was the butter!!!!! After a little research on Google, found out they have changed how it's made. We will no longer be buying this brand.

Something's wrong
Butter doesn't taste like it used to. I don't know why, butter these days has no flavor. 80s and 90s butter actually had a buttery taste, these days butter just tastes plain like a flavorless grease
