Mat Maneri Quartet - Sustain (CD)

This quartet is Mat Maneri (acoustic/electric violin), William Parker (bass), Craig Taborn (piano/keyboards), and Gerald Cleaver (drums). Joe McPhee contributes rich and evocative tenor sax. "Sustain" creates a textured musical bed; it's one of the most introspective and harmonically shimmering albums of the year. Maneri, son of multi-instrumentalist and composer Joseph Maneri, has worked with Matthew Shipp, William Parker, Spring Heel Jack, and the Joe Morris Quartet.
