Lid Change is Bad

Providing Feedback - 2 months ago

I opened a new ground pepper and didn't notice the larger holes on the lid. I shook it as usual and the pepper poured out like a rushing river. Fortunately, it happened on something I could rinse off or dinner would have been ruined. McCormick's customer service said the larger holes are what they are using now, but would pass along my feedback. I kept my old lid to use for now, but will have to find a new brand unless this gets fixed.

2 Years ago you stated that you were going back to the smaller holed lids. What has happened. The Large hole lids are still on the coarse black pepper. Disappointing. Ruins food too much spice.

When will the larger, 5 hole lid be changed back to the 11 hole lid? I keep reusing my old lid which is starting to wear out - pretty sure I shouldn't have to do that. Also, I teach cooking to kids - they have a really hard time managing the 5 hole lid - some disasters causing tears. Please fix this. Thank you.
The lid has been a problem for over 2 years!

The coarse ground black pepper, 3.12 oz. jar is our favorite, but the holes in the lid have been too large for over TWO years! 5 large holes instead of the old 11 small holes. Can't this be fixed?

I don't understand the negative reviews. The pepper is the right size for coarse ground and you can shake out the amount you want. Perhaps some people would prefer a fine ground and less pepper taste?

I'm not sure who the Bozo was that thought it would be a great idea to widen the holes on Black Course Pepper bottles, as well as Garlic Salt and Garlic Powder as well as many others. This is a brand i would recommend you stay away from. Not being able to control seasonings on food is not good for any consumer., as well as the company. I suggested getting rid of CEO that approved this change to their spice shakers. Lawrys doing the same thing. Time to switch brands.

Glad it is not just me. The holes are too large, I want to change, yet I do like Mccormick's. Can you give us an if you are going to fix this, if not, we can switch to another brand.

As long time users of McCormick spices, we are in the process of switching to other brands As many previous reviewers have stated the cover with 5 large holes are not suitable for most spices. There used to 11 smaller holes in the same cover size. Reviewers have been complaining about this for a long time Your response about the supplier being responsible is getting old.
What is with the Large Holes

This is getting ridiculous. Apparently this is not a new issue. Your customers have been complaining about the overly large holes in the pepper for a long time. Its quite an eye opener when you're not expecting it and you've dumped a ton of pepper on something that needed a sprinkle. Is this something you can change? Can we please have an update? Thank you.

What happen here? The holes are too big in the lid. Too much pepper comes out. McCormick, change the lid back to the smaller holes. The pepper itself is great, but the lid situation is frustrating.
Why don't you listen to your customers re large-holed lids!!

Complained months and months ago re large-holed lids that can wreck a meal. You obviously don't care b/c it's still not fixed. I shop at a big store with lots of product turnover. Check every time I shop until now because I am won't support a company that thinks so lowly of their customers. I am done with McCormick.

So it's now three in a row for the supersized lid holes. Surely your supplier can tool his machine to make the 11 hole lids required. Great product, but you're going to lose customers to other spice suppliers if you can't get this problem fixed.

The issue with the overly large cap holes (dumping out way too much pepper) has been going on for over a year now. The response is always the same "we're working on it". I gave up hope that it would be fixed and no longer use this product.

This is my go-to cracked black pepper. BUT - the new containers have huge openings that dump way too much pepper. I'm guessing this was a brilliant marketing ploy to get people to use more black pepper, but this was a mistake. My fault for not recognizing the new, huge, gaping holes on the top of the dispenser. Ruined a recipe! Please go back to the former lids/dispensers.

over seasoned food - 2 years ago

I love this pepper - it's a staple in three generations of our family. We are all struggling mightily with this new lid with the HUGE holes. On more than one occasion someone in the family has lost 1/3 of the jar when "shaking" into a pot of soup, an omelette, on steak. I had one remaining original lid but contacted it to my 83 year old mother. Please tell me that you will switch back. And in the meantime, can I purchase just a lid with the small holes? Your course ground pepper is the only kind I like.

I read a comment from 7 months ago complaining about the new large hole size in the pepper shaker cap and a mccormick person replied that they were aware and were already resuming with the normal caps with smaller holes. That was 7 months ago. 7... months... ago... I check every shaker in the store every time I shop and none of them have a proper cap to this day. None of them. These larger hole caps do not function as a shaker and dump out so much pepper that you'll ruin your meal. It seems Mccormick staff are still saying this is a supply issue with proper caps. This supply problem occurred at least over 7 months ago and is still not fixed? So the question is WHEN will you be actually fixing this? WHEN?

Your shaker portion of the cap is NOT designed for pepper. Everytime I use it, too much comes out. This portion of the cap is far more suited for Italian Seasoning....not for pepper. I'll need to find a new container and put your product in. By the way, your product is excellent, just your container is faulty.
