Removal of grinder cap -for recycling purposes- is almost impossible. The whole thing ended up in the trash...
This is the second time I bought it, and surely will not buy again.
A total "greenwash". Reconsider your ethics Mccormick….

This new design is awful. First problem is removing and replacing lid. It is difficult to "pop" the top off, actually painful to the thumb and fingers. Plus, you have to give it a good whack to put it back on. The grinder itself does not seem to work properly , therefore you have to exert extra effort just to try to grind. Mine is set at medium, but it frequently binds up. Not a fan. Go back to old design. As they say " If it ain't broke, don't fi it!" There was no reason, I can see for making the current change. You had a good product that worked fine

If you have it on minimum on the grind dial, hardly any comes out. You have to grind it about 30 times to get a small amount of pepper to come out. If you put it on even a small increase on the dial, you get hard pieces of peppercorn coming out! Just awful! You think being McCormick, which is a namebrand, it would be better. The only good thing I can say, is that you can remove the top & add more peppercorns when it’s empty.
Grinder teeth wear out, unable to use 1/4 peppercorns

I've purchased these pepper grinders for years and I've never been able to use the entire peppercorns as the grinder teeth wear out to soon. 1/4 of the peppercorns are usually left unusable as the teeth will no longer grind them.
Poor packaging design for Peppermill Grinder

Why did you change the pepper mill grinder (.85oz)?
The old design was much better.
The new one has the WEIRD shape red plastic that does not have any scoring or something to grab onto while turning it.
I also cut myself on the top red part as it is very sharp in places.
The shape is ridiculous and the black cover is difficult to put back in place, partly because of that stupid red plastic shape.
I also do not like the shape of the bottle.
The old bottle had a wider bottom which made it more stable on a table rather than the new bottle which is more narrow. And why in the world are there two places on the new bottle bottom that has no glass? That even makes the new bottle more unstable.
Why did McCormick make this change? It's the worst. It makes you avoid using pepper at all because it is so unpleasant and unsafe.
This was a very dumb idea on someone's part at McCormick.
Junk

While the actual peppercorn is fantastic, the grinder is utterly useless junk. It broke and had a crack down the side of the top. Then to add insult to injury it fell off while I was seasoning my steaks causing pepper corn to go everywhere. Ruining my steaks, my dinner, and my night. Of course it struck again ruining my breakfast. I have two of these and the so low quality. None this happened when McCormick used their old design for the grinders! I guess I'll be using Morton for my seasonings from now on.
New design lid is the worst!

Loved the previous design grinder but the new container is too difficult to remove the lid and use. It requires an utensil to pop it off while hoping not to get hurt in the process. I have injured fingernails trying the first few times. Now in search of a new brand due to the frustration of opening this product.

I've tried to operate new bottle design pepper grinder to adjust to the 3 sizes of grinds. I cannot. I read your instructions provided to other posters with same problem. The pieces simply don't move. It would take someone with an enormous grip to move those parts enough to adjust the grind. As for me, I could not get the parts to move, as I do not possess "enormous grip". For now I am stuck with the "fine grind" because the parts will not move to adjust to the other two sizes.

Thought I would like the new smaller McCormick pepper mill. I cannot figure out how to change the grind. I tried twisting both directions and pulling but can not get to move. Very disappointing so last one I will purchase. Time to look for a better design from another company after i returned to store where I challenged them to adjust grind and they couldn't either.

I was a longtime user of the old design. While I applaud McCormick for taking the initiative to make the product easily recyclable, this design does not function as intended. It is almost impossible to turn the device for grind and the grinder head continually works its way off the bottle as you do so. I hope you will rework this but I will be buying a competitor's product for the foreseeable future.

I've been using the pepper grinder for many years and love it but this newer design of the bottle has made it impossible for me to use the lid. I simply can't get it off once it is snapped into place. Have you at McCormick actually tried this thing? You should. It is really hard to get off. So hard in fact that I have switched to another brand. Sorry that yu did not do your research on this lid.

I purchased the Italian Herb Seasoning Adjustable Grinder and tried repeatedly to adjust the opening. I was able to do this with the red tab grinder but not this one. Will try to open it and buy a separate appliance to use the contents. Please bring back the red tab top.

I really LIKE these & have bought all the different peppercorn flavor grinders. But I would LOVE them if they were REFILLABLE... Come on, McCormick, while the rest of us are trying to make LESS trash/pollution, you insist on selling these one-hit wonders that are sadly useless when the peppercorns are gone! Please, make them REFILLABLE... the planet will love you for it

Bought this because all the other large refill jars of pepper were sold out. Honestly, this grinds better than my fancy pepper grinder and is less messy too (my other one leaves pepper everywhere).

I used to get your black pepper and garlic grinder but cannot find it anymore. I'm thinking it is discontinued. Shame as it was the perfect spice for spaghetti caccio. The garlic gave it extra zip. Any chance of seeing again. This just isn't the same.

Adjusting the grind size per Customer service just doesn't work. You live with the size of the grind preset when purchased. The previous grinders with red tab grinder settings could at least be changed. Too bad I don't have Hulk Hogan as a neighbor who could probably solve my problem with this item with a simple twist.
Take it back to the drawing boards folks.
Thank you
Works well for the price.
