More “Back Alley Olive Oil” Than Tuscan Dream
I wanted this to transport me to an Italian countryside where I casually wear linen and say “grazie” while drizzling olive oil over fresh bread. Instead, it came off a bit more bitter than I’d hoped—like it had some unresolved emotional issues. It’s fine for cooking things where the flavor won’t stand out too much, but as a finishing oil or for dipping? It’s giving “budget bruschetta” energy. It’s affordable and gets the job done, but it’s not exactly whisking me away to Positano. I’ll still use it for sautéing and pretending I’m on Chopped, but I probably won’t repurchase for my fake Italian lifestyle moments.

Bitter taste
I tried the small bottle and will use it in cooking to finish it. I had been making a lot of homemade dressings and my husband suddenly started complaining about the taste, which I realized was due to the new oil (I had been using Wegman's Italian Classics). It definitely is bitter, but if you;re just using it to oil a pan, it's probably OK.

Decent oil for cooking, but why is the price increasing so much?
This is a very decent olive oil for cooking and salad dressing. I've used it for years and have never been disappointed. I am upset about the price, however. In Feb 2023, I paid $13 for the 50 ounce bottle, which is a steal. Last time I paid $18. Today target is charging $20. What is going on with these prices? As others have noted, this oil is quite basic and lacks the flavor and depth of more expensive oils. When it was $13 I was fine with that.
