Q: How does this have "7g added sugars" when there's no sugar in the ingredients list?

submitted by Sleepy - 2 years ago
    • A: Error most likely. I have found numerous errors on Target's food items.

submitted byAnnoyedbygreed - 2 years ago
    • A: Very good question. I'd like to know as well. Thanks for asking.

submitted bystarplunep - 10 months ago
    • A: FDA guidelines around sugar created during the processing of oats. From Oatly's FAQ: Our oatmilks (aside from the Chocolate) don’t contain any added sweeteners like cane sugar, which is why they’re not listed as an ingredient. The sugar in our oatmilk is produced during our enzymatic production process. Basically, we use natural enzymes to liquefy our oats, which enables us to create a really creamy product that retains a lot of the nutrition from the original oat (like protein, unsaturated fats, fibers, and carbs). As part of this process, the enzymes break the starches in our oats down into smaller components, including simple sugar like maltose. It’s comparable to how the human body uses enzymes to break starches down into sugars during digestion. You can read more about this process here. FDA guidance on sugar labeling now provides that any sugar created during a product’s production process should be categorized as 'added', which is why these sugars are listed as 'added sugar' on our nutrition labels.

Q: why does the label information for this item not list the added sugar as an ingredient?

    • A: The sugar is not added seprately. Instead the way that they process the oats breaks it down into an "oat sugar" which is why they have to classify it as an added sugar on the nutritional label.

Q: The ingredients show that this contains Omega 3. Does it have any fishy taste or smell?

submitted by Cat - 4 years ago
    • A: Absolutely no fishy smell or taste whatsoever.

submitted bySocaldancer - 1 year ago
    • A: Hi there! Regarding Omega-3 content in our Full Fat Oatmilk, we use an algal-based vegan DHA. This ingredient is identified on our label as "DHA algal oil". For more information on our full ingredient list, please see our US product page: https://us.oatly.com/products/full-fat-oatmilk-chilled. Thanks!

Q: Is this made in a facility that also handles nuts?

submitted by sk - 7 years ago
    • A: The perishable refrigerated 1/2 gallons are produced in a nut free facility. The shelf stable quart tetra pacs are made in a facility shared with nuts.

submitted byCharros - 6 years ago
    • A: Per their website, their oat milk is produced in facilities that handle coconut, but not tree nuts or peanuts.

submitted byGoldfinch - 7 years ago

Q: Were these oats sourced from a place that uses glysophates?

submitted by Aaron - 7 years ago
    • A: From their website.. No. We carefully source our oats from our trusted supplier, Grain Millers. Grain Millers provides their farmers with a comprehensive support program that fosters a number of sustainable agricultural practices, including avoiding the use of glyphosate on their oats. In fact, Grain Millers has required that their farmers not use glyphosate on their oats since 2015 and conducts random, weekly sampling and testing to validate their farmers' compliance. You can read more about their glyphosate policy here.

Q: Does this oat milk froth well?

    submitted by 625sandwichstacker - 11 months ago
    • A: Oatly’s Super Basic Oatmilk is a lighter drink that works well in cereal and smoothies, comparable in function to skim cow’s milk. It can foam. The Barista Edition Oatmilk is a creamier oatmilk specifically designed specifically for foaming and frothing in coffee, if you’d like to take a look at that option.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I love this oatmilk, it tastes good. But the price it is too high, it is almost double the price of the fresh ones. I will definitely buy fresh ones.

Taste okay but calorie count high

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I love brown sugar oat milk shaken espresso and was hoping to make them at home. This oat milk had too strong an oat taste; it overpowered the other ingredients. I also didn't like the high calorie count.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This Oatmilk is best used as a creamer or additive ...by itself it just doesnt cut it. Great texture but yeah it tastes very bland and boring. I wouldnt purchase this product again.

    Not sure what different

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I got Oatly shelf stable Oatmilk, but I was so confused what different from regular oatmilk. Their package looked same and just different one is at not shelf. I just wanted to try less chemical type of oatmilk. But their taste were not strong as other brand and pretty good. My kids also liked it!

    easy for travel

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I packed a box of this milk when I was traveling to India. My son cannot digest the milk in india and oat milk is not easily available. It was very easy to travel with. Oatly’s Shelf Stable Oatmilk is a game-changer if you want delicious oatmilk that’s convenient and always ready to use. The taste is smooth, naturally slightly sweet, and oaty without any chalky or watery aftertaste. It blends effortlessly into coffee, cereal, smoothies, or recipes — and the texture is creamy without being heavy.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] My family has started to develop a lactose intolerance, so this was something I wanted to try out as alternative for cereal and coffee. It was surprisingly very similar to milk creamer and the taste was really good. Happy to purchase it again.

Same Oatly quality, but pricy to purchase

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Of the asceptic milks that are pantry stable, this is probably my favorite-solid taste, texture, and can use across sweet and savory dishes. However, at this point, it's always more expensive than both other pantry-stable brands and pretty much any brand in a refrigerated larger size. So useful if you need pantry stable non dairy milk, but pricy to buy outside of that.
