About the Book
"Is it time to renew love or start a new chapter? Ingrid Dahl, a cheerful twenty-nine-year-old librarian in the cozy mountain town of Ridgetop, North Carolina, has been happily dating her college boyfriend, Cory, for eleven years without ever discussing marriage. But when Ingrid's sister announces her engagement to a woman she's only been dating for two years, Ingrid and Cory feel pressured to consider their future. Neither has ever been with anybody else, so they make an unconventional decision. They'll take a one-month break to date other people, then they'll reunite and move toward marriage. Ingrid even has someone in mind--her charmingly grumpy coworker, Macon Nowakowski, on whom she's secretly crushed for years. But plans go awry, and when the month ends, Ingrid and Cory realize they're not ready to resume their relationship--and Ingrid's harmless crush on Macon has turned into something much more complicated. Overdue is a beautiful, slow-burn romance full of lust and longing about new beginnings and finding your way"--Provided by publisher.Book Synopsis

slow burn romance
3 1/2 stars rounded up to 4. I liked this book even though it was a really slow romance. But in between the author had her characters deal with real life situations. Ingrid is a librarian who lives with her boyfriend of eleven years. After her younger sister gets engaged she wonders why her and Cory never talk about marriage but just assume it will happen. So they have the talk and decide to take a break from their relationship for a month and then get back together. Well, one month led to another to another and you get the jest. There is another Librarian that Ingrid is attracted too but he tends to push her away and she doesn't know how he feels about her. She has been trying to get his attention for years. They are really good friends though, and his drug addicted aunt needs him so he asks Ingrid to watch his cat. She falls in love with his house. His relationship had ended two years ago and his house is in need of some fresh paint and ideas. So, they work on his house and their friendship while both lust and long for each other. Besides her friend Macon, Ingrid has quite a few friends who help her with her life decisions. You feel like you are Ingrid's friend to and hope that her life will take a turn for the better. All in all this was a fun read but it was a little slow and long...It was worth it though! Thanks to #netgalley, #stmartinspress and @naturallystephperkins for an ARC of this book. All opinions are my own.
