Book Synopsis

The highly anticipated new thriller from the USA Today and #1 bestselling author of The Perfect Marriage and One of Us Is Dead

Grace Evans, an overworked New Yorker looking for a total escape from her busy life, books an Airbnb on a ranch in the middle of Wyoming. When she arrives at the idyllic getaway, she's pleased to find that the owner is a handsome man by the name of Calvin Wells--and he's eager to introduce her to his easygoing way of life. But there are things Grace discovers that she's not too pleased about: A lack of cell phone service. A missing woman. And a feeling that something isn't right with the ranch.

Despite her uneasiness, the two bond and start to fall for one another. However, as her departure date nears, things change for the worse. What began as a playful romance soon turns into a complicated web of lies. Grace grows wary of Calvin as his infatuation for her seems to have morphed to obsession. Calvin fears that Grace is hiding something from him--including her reason for staying at his ranch to begin with. Vacation flings typically end in heartbreak, but for Grace and Calvin, it'll be far more destructive.

Review Quotes

"A dark, suspenseful psychological thriller with a great premise and masterful use of twists. Rarely have I read a book where I have switched allegiance with characters so frequently and still got my prediction wrong. It's a pitch-perfect sinister read and begging for a sequel."

-- "John Marrs, USA Today bestselling author of The One"

"Queen of domestic suspense, Jeneva Rose, has done it again. You Shouldn't Have Come Here is a sexy, twisty thriller from the first page to the last. Nothing is exactly how it seems, no one is telling the whole truth, and you'll be racing through the pages to see how Rose weaves together her newest impossible-to-put-down thriller. I devoured it in a single sitting!"

-- "Danielle Girard, USA Today bestselling author of Far Gone"

"Suspense at its finest: original, emotional, and a twist for the ages. Jeneva Rose is a force to be reckoned with, and You Shouldn't Have Come Here is her best yet."

-- "Alex Finlay, author of The Night Shift"

"A page-turner from start to finish with a whiplash of a twist ending, Rose has cemented her place as a must-read author for fans of domestic thrillers. Sexy, sizzling, and suspenseful."

-- "Jennifer Hillier, USA Today bestselling author of Things We Do in the Dark and Little Secrets"

"Jeneva Rose's latest is a cat-and-mouse thriller, rustic Airbnb style. Throw in sexy romantic tension between narrators Grace and Calvin, and you have an unputdownable story where the suspense accelerates with every page turned. The twist at the end is brilliantly unexpected. This story will make you think twice about your next vacation rental, and about being a host. Sexy, shocking suspense."

You Shouldn’t Have Come Here by Jeneva Rose. Wow. I’m stunned. A little shocked. Trying to recover. Jeneva has done it again! From someone who blind read this book, but a lot can be read between the lines of the title, just was not prepared for all the twists and turns and moments that make you go, “hmmmm.” I loved this book. I couldn’t put it down. I had to read more. I had to see what was next. The suspense, thrill, and overall story was just so satisfying! #youshouldnthavecomehere #jenevarose #readmorebooks @jenevaroseauthor

Honestly, I do not even know how this book is a New York Times Bestseller. Extremely disappointing. Took me forever to get through the first 9/10 of the book because it was so slow. Then once there was finally some “suspense” in the last two chapters, the most random “plot twist” happens to add some “excitement”. Extremely unnecessary I must add. Definitely worst book I’ve read in the past year.

I wasn’t sure about reading this book since the reviews said the ending didn’t make sense. But you have your read the perfect marriage first to understand the style of writing the author has. Any book I read from this author is amazing.

So twisty, clever, and original. It's nice to read something totally different in this genre. This is a slow burn, atmospheric thriller with romance and horror tropes. Nothing is as it seems, and you must read closely to pick up on everything. The use of psychology was brilliant. I don't think most will pick up on just how clever it is, unless you understand personality disorders and how they reveal themselves in new relationships. I can't say more without giving away spoilers. But this book is a must read, and I'd love to see a sequel for it. Highly recommend, unless you skim read or don't have the patience for a creepy, slow burn thriller.

This is the 2nd book I have read from this author. The book is slow and it picks up about halfway through. My biggest complaint about this author is she lack character development. She sorta skimps on the personalities of the characters so it’s hard to connect with them. This will be the last book I read of hers. The overall plot is weird and I would pass on reading this book.

This is the worst book I have ever read. It was excruciating to read. The premise is a New York City woman randomly picks a Wyoming AIRBNB for a vacation. The owner is a handsome country boy. The book takes you through her 10-day stay at a slow, irritating pace. The first 9 days & almost 300 pages are a trashy romance novel that is poorly written. The ending is VERY predictable. I didn't notice the endorsement by Colleen Hoover. If I had noticed that AND if I had known she's a writer of boring, simpleton romance novels like Danielle Steele I would have never bought it. I wish I had not wasted time reading it & I am throwing it in the trash. I will NEVER read anything by this author again.

Just read the last 3 chapters of the book. Waste of time. The the book was basically a love story until the last few chapters then it was a murder book. It didn't tie with the story at all. It was a disappointment. Don't read it
