I love these sheets! They fit wonderfully...I have them in Twin, Queen and King. I also purchased these sheets in Full size for a grandson and a granddaughter! I don’t believe I will purchase any other kind, but Threshold Performance 400!
In brief: fit is good but material has changed for the worse and is waaay rougher than I expect from a sateen weave
I loved my old set of Threshold Performance 400 TC sheets- they were smooth and soft and lasted about four years before wearing thin and tearing. I bought these to replace them but the material is definitely different.
They felt kind of scratchy in the store but I figured they just needed a wash. Washing & drying once only made them feel scratchier, like I'd agitated more angry little cotton fibers out of their weave. I took a cotton-softening tip from the internet and washed again with a cup of baking soda in the wash cycle and cup of vinegar in the rinse, followed by a normal detergent wash & tumble dry. I line-dried one pillowcase to test whether the dryer was to blame but everything still came out scratchy. I put them on the bed -same great fit as the old sheets on my 10" foam mattress- but the fabric was so rough that I couldn't move in bed with all the drag on my pyjamas. I ended up changing the sheets around midnight and returned these a few days later. Fortunately they accepted them without any problem.
I did a lot of research trying to choose a replacement cotton sateen sheet and found similar complaints on cotton sheets from many companies- that people had been buying the same sheets over and over again for a decade but the material changed for the worse in the past year or so. I bet something's up with the supply.
I ended up buying Target's Threshold 100% Organic Cotton 300 TC percale sheets, figuring that at least they couldn't be made of the same material since they were specifically organic cotton and made in Bahrain rather than India (not saying that organic is better or Bahrain is better, just that I knew it'd be different). I'm definitely happier with these sheets- they are softer, smoother, and easier to move around in than the new Performance sheets, which is kind of ridiculous considering the Performance sheets are sateen and should be silky-smooth. The organic cotton sheets will work okay but I miss how easy it was to turn over in the old Performance sheets.
These Performance Sheets will probably be great for some people but didn't work for me as someone who wears long pyjamas (Minnesota winter, uffda) and rolls over a lot. And definitely don't expect them to feel like your old set of the same sheets. I wish I could sign up to get a notification if Target ever switched back to the original product.
Scratchy and irritating fabric, which is interesting considering the relatively high thread count. It’s as though the fabric has fuzz standing out perpendicular to the weave. They irritate my skin, even after several washings. The mauve color is chic, and the extra elastic of the deep fitted sheet makes them easy to put on.
I purchased these in coral not even two years ago and the other day noticed a huge hole in the fitted sheet. We had purchased these sheets prior to that in grey and the fitted sheet shrunk over time. Super annoying, sheets should not last less than one year. Target needs to improve quality.
I'm so upset by the quality of these sheets. Holes! There is absolutely no excuse for target to sell sheets that are so obviously flawed. I have NEVER had sheets that got holes in them after only one year of use. It's evident that the quality of fabric they are using is inferior. I purchased these for my daughter a little over a year ago. I purchased a set of the vintage chambray sheets for my son in addition to these and I noticed his bottom sheet also has a hole. What a waste! I will never purchase sheets from target again!
