Description

About the Book

"When spring arrives, it's time to visit the farm to pickout some eggs, perfect for decorating. Bring your eggs home, taking care not to crack them, and find a pot big enough to fit them all. While the eggs are cooling and drying, get ready for some dyeing! Then on Easter morning, fling open your door and search for eggs of a different kind, filledwith foil-wrapped chocolate, spinning tops, and jelly beans. And those perfect eggs you dyed the day before? They are no longer just eggs, of course: they're Easter eggs!"--

Then on Sunday, open your door and search for eggs of a different kind, filled with foil-wrapped chocolate, spinning tops, and jelly beans. This cheerful Easter-time board book captures all the excitement of the holiday and is sure to become part of a new treasured tradition.

Review Quotes

Sprays of bright greens, a shining sun, and dotted buds on trees as well as pastel bunting and fuzzy bunny ears and flower crowns on little ones bring a light, airy lift to this joyful community gathering. . . . Egg-stra special.
--Kirkus Reviews

The rhyme scheme works well and is easy to read aloud without any stumbles, and Jarvis's digital illustrations are lovely and natural, filled with spring colors. . . . A springtime Easter tale for young children excited for egg hunts.

The Easter Egg

This book starts at the very beginning when the hen lays an egg, goes on to the dying and decorating of the egg, then to Easter morning and the Easter Egg Hunt. Children will love getting to see that eggs come from chickens. Next, are all the things that can be done to dye them. From natural vegetable dyes to dye tablets from Easter kits, to using stickers and markers, everything is discussed to color eggs. When Easter morning arrives, the children in the book, and your child reading it, will all be excited for the Easter Egg Hunt. Join the fun of finding the eggs and the good time afterward of eating them. This is a special book celebrating everything involved in an Easter Egg Hunt. Little ones will enjoy this during the Easter season, but during the rest of the year, too. Illustrations by JARVIS have wonderful colors that add to the charm of the story. This tale is told with rhyming verse that will tickle the ears of all who hear it. Children ages three to seven will enjoy this five-star board book. Thanks to Candlewick Books for providing Tickmenot with a book to review. Opinions are my own.
