A: Hi and thank you for posting a product review for the Smithfield Prime Fresh Hard Salami. Yes, you can freeze the item. The package USE BY DATE is for unopened product only. Once opened, use or freeze leftover meat within 5 days of opening the package. You can freeze the unopened item also, just make sure you do that before the USE BY DATE. For best quality, try to use the meat within a month of freezing. I hope this helps and thank you!

This has to be the worst rendition of hard salami I have ever tasted.This tastes more like baloney than hard salami. I noticed the smoke flavor added on the label later, if I had seen it first, I never would have bought it.

GREASY
I used to be the biggest fan of this hard salami, it was my absolute favorite and go-to up until the recent packaging change. Whatever the reason for packaging change, probably to save money, it was an awful choice. I cannot even stomach how greasy this product is now. I’ve thrown out the extras I had as both my child and I cannot stand the texture in our mouths. It’s so greasy you can’t even peel the pieces apart. An awful shame, why did you have to go and ruin this?

Honestly, I thought this would be a high quality salami based on it marketing but it’s comparable to the meat they put in Lunchables. It tastes more like bologna or spam than salami. A shame!

If I can give it no stars I would. I did a pick up and how do you not know when you’re putting it in summons bag that the salami is completely gray and green. I know the expiration date says August 2024 but salami is not supposed to be great and green.

Whether alone on rye with mustard or with ham and provolone for an easy “Italian” sandwich. My favorite way to eat it is with an an over easy egg on crusty bread with a drizzle of balsamic glaze. Delicious!!
