Really enjoyed this book (I tend to like most of Ali Hazelwood's stuff), but Target needs to do better with book orders! My copy looked used and came damaged, I had to return it. Bummer because I want to support the author.

careless packaging
The item arrived quickly but whomever packaged the item did so carelessly and the cover was ruined. It was folded and ripped by the box flap because it wasnt in the box flat.

When the slow burn never catches fire but you’re already 300 pages in 😩🔥.
Ali Hazelwood’s writing is like that one singer you recognize in the first five seconds, no intro needed. Her books have a vibe: smart-mouthed heroines, slow-burn steam, and the classic “he’s emotionally constipated while she thinks he hates her” dynamic. It’s a brand. And I eat it up. That said, Problematic Summer Romance won’t be living rent-free in my head. I liked Maya, her sarcastic energy had serious female Ryan Reynolds vibes, but I didn’t bond with her. She was entertaining, but she didn’t crack my emotional shell. Also… the age-gap jokes? Cute at first, then kinda like that party guest who won’t leave. By chapter 40, I was committed, but mostly out of loyalty, not because I couldn’t put it down. Not my fave Hazelwood book, but I’m still a fan. When her books hit, they hit. And even when they don’t, her voice is always worth the read.
