Q: Does this seal so moisture won't get in?

A: No. The lid fits very well onto the base, but it is just wood sliding over wood, with a small embedded magnet at closed position. There are no flanges or gaskets or grooves or anything like that.

It’s cute, although I think the spoon on the top is pretty useless bc if you really have to measure something precisely, just use an actual measuring spoon? Also my biggest problem is that it smells *really strongly* like whatever it’s treated with. So bad that my brother, who famously does not have a strong sense of smell, told me “this thing reeks!” It smells like, sharply acidic and also musty. Since I bought it, the smell has somehow gotten worse. I’m gonna get rid of it! Find something untreated 😭

Toxic chemicals, smells Toxic as well
It's beautiful but there's a warning on the bottom that states it's made with Xylenses and Ethyl Acetate both toxic to humans. It also smells so much like chemicals. I am afraid to use it. Will be returning.

I do not recommend this salt cellar! The salt cellar has been treated with highly toxic chemicals that will leach into your salt. I did not use this for this reason. There is no way of removing the chemicals. According too what I read one of the chemicals has been banned in the U.S.

Fool me twice - shame on me
The salt cellar itself is nice, solid, and a good size. The product itself could be 5 stars. However, the spoon was missing in two different orders. I read the recent reviews and hoped Target addressed customer concerns. Nope. I ordered it the first time. No spoon. I submitted a photo, stated the issue, and commented on how recent reviews shared the same concern. The second fulfillment had the same issue. Still no spoon. It is a major quality assurance issue with Target. They credited my account and said to keep them.

I absolutely adore this salt cellar with its sweet little spoon. It’s too darn cute! Not to mention, sanitary. I absolutely hate the idea of other salt cellars that don’t come with a spoon because then people more often that not use it with there bare hands. Which is just unsanitary. Adorable and very versatile!
Love the overall concept and look. Bamboo is so traditional and yet beautiful with any kitchen design. Lid slides open (attached) with the little spoon mount, on top. A bit Pricey though. Had friends interested but said they’d never spend that price. I still love it! Will only purchase this one in that section, as the prices are a bit high.

Missing Spoon
I ordered this through a grocery pickup. Whoever gathered my order, lost the spoon and didn’t bother to get another. I’m rating this a 1 star for customer service and not so much the actual product. The bowl was very nice and of good quality - despite the missing spoon. Now I have to make an extra trip for a return and order the bowl, as that was the last one in stock.

Minus a star because the tape that holds the spoon in is perfect, didn't leave a residue, but the store barcode is stuck on - and will need to be scrubbed off. Super gross (and possibly will leave cosmetic damage to the wood). A twine wrap and a paper tag would make this 5 stars - especially for a housewarming or host gift.
