submitted byAKALola - 2 months agoA: Hi Kim - Thank you for reaching out to us with your query about the Small Wooden Scoop (Set of 2) - Hearth & Hand. The scoops are made of Lacquered and stained finish wood. Lacquer can be food safe for some uses, but it's not recommended for cutting or chopping surfaces and wood that has been stained and finished can be food safe, as long as the finish has cured and dried. I hope this information was helpful. Happy Shopping! - Josh
