Why is there SUGAR added to clams? Or I should say clam juice because the actual clam is so shredded and almost non existent.

I used to turn to additive-free canned clams for clam chowder and clam dip, but have switched to this because the healthier alternatives weren’t as largely chopped and often had significantly more sand. If only these didn’t contain sodium tripolyphosphate or calcium disodium EDTA, I’d be cooking with them much more often.

It’s great that you can find wild caught which makes delicious pasta with clam sauce at an affordable price! I hope Target will continue to carry these! The taste is good and contains enough clam juice for such a recipe. I use two cans to make two servings of spaghetti and clam sauce.

If you like canned clams this is the best brand to buy. I’ve tried other brands, but the quality is not as good. Plus, Target has the best price. Save at least fifty cents a can up to a dollar.

Perfect for Homemade Clam Sauce
5 out of 5 stars
franny1949 - 2 years ago, Verified purchaser
A couple cans of these clams, some extra virgin olive oil, melted butter, salt , pepper and parsley and voila, a delicious homemade easy clam sauce. I slowly heat it all in my wok so as not to make the clams tough, which they are slightly to begin with, but I can live with that. I also do not discard the juice - that enhances the sauce. Just ladle it over some linguini , salad on the side, a meal fit for a king. Highly recommend.

After draining yhe can, there's only about 1/4 of the can filled with clam. Talk about bull. I didn't pay to buy a bunch of empty cans.

I had about 70% clam and 30% water (clam juice) in my cans. I used both the clam and juice in my chowder; taste great no issue here.
Where's the clams?

I like these- they taste great and aren't tough if you add them to chowder right before serving. Literally do not cook, just heat. But when you drain the can, there's only 1/8" of clams on the bottom. How are they allowed to claim that is 6oz. of clams? (and that much protein) Do we even have a dep't. of weights & measures anymore?

When I need a quick and easy dinner, I open a can of Snow's Bumble Bee Chopped Clams. Poured into a hot pan of fresh garlic, sautéed in melted butter and wine, this clam sauce never disappoints! I add it to pasta and poof, dinner is done. Great quality with wonderful flavor! It's a must have in my pantry.
