Q: Is this ok to place on a trex deck while using the stand of course? Will the trex melt?
submitted by Deb - 2 months ago
A: I have a Trex deck. I'd definitely place this on a large concrete paver/stepping stone, cinder blocks, etc.
submitted byLori - 1 month ago
A: Great question! Make sure to always use the stand when placing it on composite or PVC decking like Trex, this creates the air gap needed to prevent heat damage to the deck.

Q: Is this suitable for leaving on the concrete porch floor and does it have the ability to throw enough warmth when in close proximity?
submitted by InquiringMinds66 - 10 months ago
A: The Mesa XL is safe to use on a concrete surface. In terms of heat output, it produces a minimum of about 3,000 BTUs. It’s designed for a small, cozy fire, so while it does put off some warmth, it’s not meant to be a primary heat source. If you’re looking for more focused, centralized heat, we recommend using the Heat Deflector.

Q: what brand /type of wood or pellets work best for this item?
submitted by Kim - 2 years ago
A: Hello! The perfect smokeless flame requires quality, dry fuel. Kiln-dried hardwoods such as oak, or maple have a low moisture content, so they’ll burn at a higher temperature and give your flames a smooth secondary burn effect. Any pellets for the most part will work. We also sell some on the Solo Stove website: https://solostove.com/en-us/p/premium-wood-fuel-pellets.
WARNING:The combustion products emitted when using this product with an open flame can expose you to chemicals including carbon monoxide which is known by the State of California to cause birth defects or other reproductive harm.
