Smells like toxic paint. Target should have these tested.
The inside of the soap dispenser smells like it was just painted with a toxic paint. I suspect during manufacturing they did not let the paint cure before putting the pumps on. I'm not sure Target should be selling these. Their are likely dangers of toxic paint transferring to the soap then onto hands of children who are washing their hands before they eat and who ingest the toxic paint.

Awesome gift for a Spider-Man lover… but strong (and horrible) chemical smell
This was a great gift for my son who loves Spider-Man. It’s big and holds a lot of liquid soap. I was hesitant to buy this because most reviews mentioned the dispenser having a strong chemical smell. But then it was on sale so I bought it anyway. The first few days I didn’t smell anything ( I have chronic rhinitis and have the worse sense of smell) but after a few days, I started to notice the strong smell from the soap after pumping it. My son is just 6 yrs old so doesn’t notice those things. So yeah 🤷♀️ same complaint as others, it transfers a very strong chemical smell onto the soap once pumped on your hands. I might try to wash inside the bottle with hot water and soap and see if it removes the smell. Will edit my review if I do!

Don't waste your money
I was able to clean it well enough to get rid of the strong chemical smell, and then the pump broke after just a few weeks. I exchanged it, went through the cleaning process again and the same thing happened with the pump. Not good quality at all.

Not the smell I was going for...
The dispenser looks really nice, the color is vibrant, and it looks like Spidey so it made my son happy. Unfortunately, because of the surrounding moisture (obviously, it sat by the sink), I started noticing it would leave red staining on the countertop. Worse yet, we noticed a strong turpentine or other chemical smell coming from the bottle as the soap started to run out; had to return it because I didn’t want to risk my son using something with such a strong chemical odor. I checked new ones still in stock after returning the one we had, sure enough, all of them had the same smell. Next time I buy a soap dispenser that is not clear glass, I’m opening it up and checking the inside.

It smells horrible!
While this soap dispenser design is super cute, the smell that the inside of the container has is NAUSEATINGLY strong. It has a strong chemical scent to it that clings onto any soap that is put inside of it, including scented soap. So every time you use the pump, it just leaves a chemical smell on your hands. My son refuses to use it! Wish I would have retuned it a long time ago…
