great pot to warm up food and even cook
This small pot does the all around job - great for warming up food and cooking. Warms up a single serving or cook a single serving. Finally found a way to cook those frozen green beans - little olive oil, cook a little onion and garlic then add one cup frozen green beans stir on med heat till they lose the frosted look then cover on low heat for 10 min. then done to perfection.

This little pot holds about three cups and is perfect for sauces, melting butter, warming up soup or a serving of anything, browning a small batch of onions and or peppers to add to a recipe and so much more. Think of your small stainless steel pot and anything you do in that you can do in this instead and cast iron provides superior heat distribution, superior browning and easier clean up.

Good size for pot pie
These round cocottes come in a variety of sizes, all of which roast, boil, bake, fry, braise and simmer to the highest possible standards. This size is terrific things like pot pie, a hearty portion of soup stew, cooking rice and legumes. This little cocotte is so versatile. Its black matte finish on the inside of the pan allows for better browning, braising, and roasting. The heat capability is amazing, and it will stay hot for hours. I use these for individual mashed potato servings. I can prep them ahead of time and heat in the oven.

This smaller version of the large Staub pot I own, has all the same great features. The interior and exterior have a black matte enamel coat, it's not just raw cast iron. Browns well and washes easily. The underside of the lid has self basting spikes, which keeps your dish moist and full of flavor. Great for a small side or a hot appetizer.

Use this little guy for individual servings, decoration or storage for spices. If baking, the cast iron is an excellent vessel to distribute heat evenly and perfectly cook and brown food.
