As a "modern" game that came out in 2018 that is essentially the same game as the Wii U game- I couldn't be more disappointed. The community surrounding the game is toxic too. Playing it today the graphics feel aged really bad, despite being one of the best looking games on the Switch. The game is fun locally and is fun just to mess around with in the levels which are basically all the same imo. Unlike the older games these stages are ALL competitively focused and the only variance is the background for the most part. Every stage is the same and I found it hard to tolerate. The characters are unbalanced in my opinion too, with some (my favorites) being unplayable due to the dominant characters. All in all this game is just the bare minimum of what Nintendo could do, with micro transactions galore on the eshop in the form of mini character costumes.

This game is basically a classic. Wait to buy the physical copy on sale during holidays if you want a deal. But worth it either way. The adjustable difficulties make it fun for all ages. It has high replay value if you have friends or family to do tournaments with.
