Q: How many and what type of controllers with this need on a per player basis?

submitted by Josh - 5 years ago
  • A: Hi Josh, 8 players can play simultaneously on the same screen with one copy of the game, or up to 4 players online simultaneously with individual copies of the game. Controller options include 1 single Joycon (turned sideways), 2 Joycons (combined with a grip), Switch Pro Controller, wired GameCube controllers (with adapter), or a variety of wireless third-party bluetooth controllers.

submitted byChrizzly - 4 years ago
  • A: The known controllers that work with this are as follows: 2 Joycon Controllers, Gamecube Controllers w/ the USB controller adapter, and the Nintendo Switch Pro Controller. The easiest format/most used one is the Gamecube Controllers with the adapter.

submitted byMelancholyMatoi - 5 years ago
  • A: 4 controllers, most likely. I don't know if 8-player smash will be back when this comes out. But from what I've been researching, Gamecube controllers are said to be compatible, Joycons will likely need to be used in the grip that came with the Switch, and pro controllers are self explanatory. Don't hold me to that though, since we still need more information, hopefully next month.

submitted byDevin - 5 years ago
  • A: Hi, Josh! Regarding your question about the Super Smash Bros. Ultimate - Nintendo Switch: This game can be played by 1-8 players simultaneously. Each player will need their own controller. If you have any additional questions, please do not hesitate to contact MyTGTtech at 877-698-4883, every day, between 7am-11pm CST.

  • A: Two switch consoles, four controllers per console. Controller type is subjective.

Q: My son tells me that pre orders of the digital version include a free character(s). But if you wait until released, you have to pay extra for the character. Does the physical pre-order copy also come with a free character(s)?

submitted by DLS - 4 years ago
  • A: Yes, this game comes with a free character if you pre order. If you pre-order the physical copy, you have to register your copy on the Nintendo website. Heres is a quote from the website: "Purchase and register your game with My Nintendo by Jan. 31 and Piranha Plant will join the battle when it’s available." So as long as you buy the game new, and register your copy by Jan 31, you'll get the free character. You don't have to pre-order it, but I would pre-order it just to be safe.

    submitted byJoshman501 - 4 years ago
  • A: Too bad it can’t be preordered now! Smh

submitted byJohnnyClaimer - 4 years ago

Q: What is the difference between buying the actual disk vs the code and do you have to buy both either way? (don't have the console yet looking at buying both as a gift)

submitted by chewbecka - 4 years ago
  • A: Also keep in mind if you purchase digitally you will need at least 16GB of memory available and since the Switch is 32GB I’d highly recommend purchasing physical and I would also recommend purchasing a Micro SD card. I actually have a 128GB and it’s been working great!

submitted byJohnnyClaimer - 4 years ago
  • A: Hi, chewbecka! Regarding your question about the Super Smash Bros. Ultimate - Nintendo Switch: You would only purchase one or the other. The physical copy would have the game disc shipped to you in retail packaging, and the digital e-mail delivery version would have a unique code emailed to your Target.com associated email address within 4-hours of purchase. The unique code is redeemed directly on the Switch's eStore, allowing the gift to be played a lot sooner. If you have any additional questions, please do not hesitate to contact MyTGTtech at 877-698-4883, every day, between 7am-11pm CST.

Q: Is this a physical disk or the digital code?

submitted by brucewayne73 - 5 years ago
  • A: Hello, I would like to add on to this answer with my own knowledge. The Nintendo Switch does not use discs on games, but uses cartridges. So the physical copy of the game would be a cartridge, not a disc. I just wanted to clear that up so no one is confused if they pre-order it, get it, and find that there is no disc in it, but a cartridge.

submitted byBill - 4 years ago
  • A: Hi, brucewayne73! Regarding your question about the Super Smash Bros. Ultimate - Nintendo Switch: This is a physical copy of the game. If you have any additional questions, please do not hesitate to contact MyTGTtech at 877-698-4883, every day, between 7am-11pm CST.

Q: We bought a egift card from target for super smash bros but we noticed there is no code on the back. it is thr 59.99 paper card. how do we activate with no code

submitted by Jkathryn94 - 3 months ago
  • A: I am having the same issue. I have read that they were supposed to email a code to our account that is linked with target card. Never received. The 16 digit code on the actual receipt does not work.

Q: If I buy one physical copy can it be used by 2 kids on 2 different switches? Or do they each need their own physical copy?

submitted by anony1 - 4 months ago
  • A: Hello! Regarding your question about the Super Smash Bros. Ultimate - Nintendo Switch: Two people can play local on the same Switch, yes! If you have any further questions, please don't hesitate to contact MyTGTtech at 877-698-4883 every day, between 7am-11pm CST.

Q: What is the difference between physical and digital?

submitted by Loe1947 - 1 year ago
  • A: Hi, Loe1947! Regarding your question about the Super Smash Bros. Ultimate - Nintendo Switch: The physical version is the version you touch and install into your system. The digital version is a code you register through your eShop account. If you have any additional questions, please do not hesitate to contact MyTGTtech at 877-698-4883 every day, between 7am-11pm CST.

Q: I'm purchasing this for my granddaughter and as I'm ordering it asks for Format Digital or Physical? I don't know which one to click on. Since this is a video game wouldn't you select Digital?

submitted by Debbie - 2 years ago
  • A: Hi, Debbie! Regarding your question about the Super Smash Bros. Ultimate - Nintendo Switch: If you would like her to have a cartridge to load into her console, you select Physical. Digital is a code she will have to redeem online through the Nintendo eShop to be able to install and play. This game is basically a classic. Wait to buy the physical copy on sale during holidays if you want a deal. But worth it either way. The adjustable difficulties make it fun for all ages. It has high replay value if you have friends or family to do tournaments with.

This Game Is So Fun! I Could Spend So Long On This Game, I Remember Playing the Original Super Smash Bros On Wii A Long Time Ago, But This One Definitely Has More Characters. I Just Got It A Few Days Ago, And My Brother And I Have Already Unlocked All The Characters. Highly Recommend!

A fun classic game for the switch. Has online play so you can play with friends who also have it. Lots of characters. Great for kids and playable for people who don’t play a lot of video games because they can just hit a ton of buttons and still do okay.
