Fun idea but assembly is difficult
I was so excited for my son to do this. It was more daunting than I expected. You have to assemble both bots from these little pieces and hook everything up. It is a great idea, but the pieces are so small.

Awesome for all ages!
So. Much. Fun! My kids absolutely loved this hydraulic boxing bots set. They have enjoyed building the robots and it was easy for them to do. The instructions were great to follow and my kids felt proud they were able to set them up themselves. The parts felt very durable and not at all flimsy. The colors are bright and engaging. When they were finished setting them up, they had an absolute blast playing and having their own boxing matches. This set is really cool and had their attention from start to finish. Definitely recommend!

Prepare a lot of time
My kids found this to be way too difficult and time consuming. I wish there were some shortcuts or something but while they were very excited to get started, that quickly wound down as the tediousness of the build wore them down. We’re still waiting to get back to it but prepare for a very very long build.

The discomfort and pain of putting these together wasn’t worth it
We spent the entire time since we received this all the way past the deadline, trying to build it and file it and get it to work. My 12-year-old nephew started out with the Bill, and eventually gave up because it was painful. When you break the pieces off to build the models, they leave sharp plastic edges that you have to file down. It’s very tedious. So I took over thinking it would be easier for an adult, and I spent about four hours just filing pieces before I gave up. We’ve done plenty of plastic model kits with Pokémon and Blokees, and this was by far the worst. The kids put together Pokémon and Blokees regularly, but the sharp plastic edges on this one really made it impossible for us to finish. We were really excited about it too because we had been looking at these for about a year, but they’re kind of expensive. I’m glad we were able to get it through the bull’s-eye program and we didn’t pay for it.

Fun & SO educational !
Thames & Kosmos is certainly becoming a go to brand in our home! Their toys are always fun, long lasting and super educational. I love that the instruction manual for this kit was thoughtfully made, with large, color pages, easy to follow step by step instructions and periodic“what’s happening” blurbs so the science behind the experiment is fully explained in easy to understand bite-sized passages. We found this to be safe, fun and a great size kit to spend time building together. Anything that’s gets you and your kids off a screen, learning and communicating as a family team is such a win!

Great STEM toy
I gave this as a gift for my son and it’s just the best gift ever! He loves it. He is still building it. It takes three hours and can be more depending on the child’s ability. Great STEM toy for kids ages 10+ with help. My son needs some extra help with this and my husband is helping him. He is able to learn the physics and the science behind the hydraulic mechanics. He is so thrilled and can’t wait to complete this so that he can use it for different experiments.

Boxing time
This was a great bonding experience with our kids. We all sat down and built them together. Surprisingly they are lightweight. This took a little time to build because we explained each step to our kids. The instructions are clear and the activity is fun.

Family time and educational
I love challenging my kids with educational puzzles and games, and this took it to the next level. The only downside of this was I believe the age should be older not because of anything bad but just because of how detailed it is. This was a great family project that we worked on and took us about two weeks total to get it completed. Teaching our kids how to follow instructions and to take time to complete, it is such a great training experience while having fun and spending time together.

Hours of fun!
My sons have had so much fun building these bots with their father. They have spent a lot of time working to strategize the build and create it. It definitely requires time and effort but the instructions are clear and with some parent supervision they are really enjoying the build. The process of building is all part of the fun!

Great for kids who like engineering and robotic
My 10 year old daughter absolutely loves the Thames & Kosmos Hydraulic Boxing Bots. It's a fun hands on STEM activity that keeps kids entertained for days. There were a few steps where she needed my help, but overall the kit is very engaging and interesting. At one point we realized there was a piece missing we weren't sure if it never came in the box or if my daughter misplaced it and the project got stuck for a few days. We went to the Thames & Kosmos website and submitted a request and they sent us the replacement part for free. It arrived at our house in less than a week, which was a great experience. Once the bots were complete the hydraulic controls made the boxing battles super fun. It's a great mix of learning and play and definitely keeps kids busy and curious. A solid choice if you want something educational, entertaining, and backed by great customer service

Takes time to assemble but neat !
It took my 11 & 13 year olds to get this Hydraulic Box Bot set 85% complete. They could not figure out the hydraulic part that you use the tubes to put into the bots. This set is intricate and requires much time to assemble. It does not come out together! Which I thought was the case lol! It’s pretty neat and has potential to be fun to explore. It’s the more modern version of an older boxing toy from the 80s/90s. Make sure you give plenty of time to put it together for your child!

Fun for the kids. Hours of play and keeps their interest
I got this for my kids to learn to build and configure hydraulics. They have done these in the past and it is time consuming but it keeps them occupied and keeps their interest. The pieces snap together without needing glue and the only tricky part is the lubricating the control parts but its easy to figure out. My kids like these and I would recommend them to others.

Fun idea
My son's thirteen and fifteen years old put these boxing bots together in no time at all. They seemed to have alot of fun building together and helping eachother out. I would say half the fun of these is building them. They also are fun for battling.

Fun STEM Project
My STEM loving kiddo clikdnt wait to get his hands on these. Instructions came very detailed and the concept is really fun. The reason for 3 stars is the amount of pieces, as shown in the photo, and the time needed for setup.

Very complicated
This set of robots is for 10 year old plus kids and it is incredibly hard to put together. Some of the little pieces snap apart when trying to get them out of the mold even using tin snips. Will probably be cool when finished. But I as an adult have already put several hours into the kit and am only 25% done. Not for kids.

Complicated
This was not for us. I have 4 kids that love putting together products like these, but it was too much for them. Instructions says 2-4 hours; we got arms done in an hour. That’s when we gave up. It was just not for us.

Great for those who are a glutton for punishment
When I first got this, I thought it would be a fun activity for my husband and twin boys to do together but BOY was I wrong. The idea is super cute and I loved that they could play with something that they put together with their dad and it would make a fun memory. Again wrong. My boys were able to successfully assemble. **ONE** of the battle bots. It took almost an hour of assembly every night for a total of five hours for half of the toy. They ultimately quit trying because they didn’t want to spend another five hours for something that requires this much assembly. I would highly recommend that the company consider sending the parts ready to assemble instead of all attached to the trays. Each individual piece has to be sanded with a nail file prior to assembly otherwise there are sharp ridges on each piece. Overall, it’s a total miss for me. I would not recommend this to anyone with kids around 10 years old. It is more suited for 13 and up.

Fun!
This is a great stem toy. My son is 11 and has been able to do most of it on his own. There was an issue with a couple of the pieces and I contacted customer support and they quickly responded and are sending the pieces to me. My son has completed one of the robots and it is really cool to watch it box. Love how they lean too. It does take some time to build, but it's worth it in the end. Even the instructions are detailed and show the length of time for each step.
