The Casper Original Hybrid mattress has three layers of premium foam that provide all-night comfort through our innovative support system. Plus springs for added lift and airflow.   • A: Casper mattresses are designed to be used with either a foundation, an adjustable base, or a solid/slatted frame. Slats should be no more than 4in apart, and should measure at least 3.5in wide. Traditional box springs do not provide the support needed for Casper mattresses and can shorten the lifespan of the mattress.

Q: Our bed frame is a stout wood box w/storage drawers under it. The mattress sits directly on a smooth, firm plywood base the size as the mattress. Does this meet the manufacturer's recommendations?

  • A: Hi there, Olivia from Casper here. We do not suggest using a traditional box spring as it does not provide the proper support for our mattresses and could potentially cause sagging over time, which we definitely do not want! While it is not required to use a Casper foundation we suggest one like it that provides slats that are no more than 4" apart.

    Smells of chemicals

    The mattress is comfortable but it smells of chemicals so wouldn’t recommend. It has been 6 weeks since I purchased it and the out gassing is unbearable

    My original-model Casper was starting

    My original-model Casper was starting to show its years and I was ready for an upgrade. Couldn’t be happier with this purchase! I’m sleeping comfortably in all positions. I love how plush the top layer is, without completely sinking into the mattress. The extra 2” of height over my old mattress is also a nice change.

    Not so thrilled with the

    Not so thrilled with the mattress. I just doesn’t feel all that comfortable. Can’t really isolate the exact reason. Not enough springs, maybe? It just feels like a big piece of styrofoam. Oh well. So it goes. Surprised it got such a high rating from Consumer Reports.

    I miss my old Casper.

    I miss my old Casper. I moved and couldn’t keep my bed so I bought this one as a replacement and don’t love it but I like it well enough. I have been a hugeeeee Casper fan obsessed with my last matress from Casper but this one was the similar version to my previous one, I was told, and it’s much firmer so 6/10 purchase.
