Kids’ measuring guide

Use the tips & visuals in this guide to make taking your child's body measurements easy-peasy.

Dont have a fabric tape measure? Use a shoelace or pant leg to measure. Then, lay it flat & use a ruler or tape measure to get a numerical measurement.

How to measure

  • Height

    Have your child stand in front of the fridge.Mark the top of the head with a magnet. Measure a straight line from floor to magnet.

  • Chest

    Have your child make airplane arms. Wrap tape measure around the fullest part of the chest, keeping it level & snug.

  • Waist

    With your child bending to one side, measure the point where the waist flexes naturally. Keep the tape level & comfortably loose.

  • Hip

    Have your child stand like a tall tree with feet together. Measure a level line around the fullest part of the hips & seat.

  • Inseam

    Take a pair of pants that fit your child well. Measure along the seam from crotch to leg opening.

    Not good

    Very cheap material they feel very thin they also run weird with their sizing. They? Ire high water compared to old navy boys jeans and they fit wide on the legs. The color of denim as well does not look like the picture. A couple of them had threads sticking out so I doubt they last long. I tired to return but the lady said no because the tag fell off the pair of jeans my son tried on. I will stay with Old Navy way better quality.

    Quality has gone downhill

    I bought these when school started in August they have already torn in two places. These are the same ones I bought the year before and they lasted all through the school year. Disappointed.

    Poor materials

    The pants that were purchased have poor material. I bought the pants in March and it is now July. The pants rip easily at the buttock area near the pockets and at the knee area. My child had to come home from camp because his pants ripped at the buttock area exposing his undergarments. The quality of the pants is becoming poor.

    I love these jeans

    My grandson would never wear jeans. He said they were so uncomfortable. He is small for his age so they were too big in the waist. I started buying jeans from Children? Is Place with the adjustable waist. He loves them and wears them everyday! I love these jeans!

    Poor made jeans

    Poor quality.!! Two out of three pairs ripped on first wear one within 30 mins on body. Split in crotch and back butt area. Customer service wanted me to return to get credit- as I had him throw out at school where they ripped- thank goodness he had gym shorts to throw on. 2 nd time ripped tried to ziptie to keep together didnt work either! No credit since i threw away and not send back but won't ever buy again! Buyer beware- not good quality anymore.

    Bad jeans.????

    We brought this jeans for our son and they lasted about 2 weeks before they tore down in the butt and front by the zipper all three of them did the same. Very disappointing of children? Is place products because we always get clothing from there and this is very serious thing because a lot of people buying this jeans. It? Is a waste of money.

    The pants seem to be thinner. These are the only pants I buy for my boys and normally I love them. This time my sons pants ripped in hole in the butt area on the first day of wearing them.

    Fit is great. However they only held up for less than 5 times of being lightly worn before the denim tore. The fabric is very thin and doesn? It hold up. I had purchased these a couple of years ago with great success but their quality is horrible now. Of course I purchased early and gave as part of a Christmas gift so it? Is too far outside of the return window to return.

    Regrettable purchase.

    Bought this 3 pack and two pair literally ripped while my son was wearing them. I put them on him for the first time and each time they ripped while he had them on. I filled out an email never got a response called showed the pictures got the run around and still didn't get a response. I was given a $20.00 reward which I paid more for the 3 pack. I have not put the third pair on him because I don't want them to rip while he has them on. Material is very thin color of the denim doesn't seem right and the infuriating thing is I used my Children's place credit card & have not even paid for the jeans yet. I definitely would not recommend ordering jeans on line from the Children's Place and totally substandard material and horrible customer service. This is coming from a long time Children's Place shopper.

    Inconsistent

    These are made extremely small around the waist and length is inconsistent. One pair was 3 inches longer than the other two. Will be returning.
