About this item

Description

Summer is heating up for reluctant psychic Riley Thorn and her handsome private investigator boyfriend, Nick Santiago.

First, her disapproving grandmother arrives determined to make Riley take her powers seriously or face the wrath of “the Guild.” Then there’s the homicide detective who needs her help figuring out who murdered the well-dressed corpse in the walk-in closet.

Nick’s got his own hands full with a tricky missing person case and his parents who want to know why he didn’t tell them about his live-in girlfriend. Then there’s the fact that he’s still the tiniest bit stressed about Riley almost getting murdered earlier that summer. The last thing he wants is her getting involved in another investigation.

Things go from bad to worse when the body count starts stacking up, the meet-the-parents dinner goes horribly wrong, and their elderly roommate is up to no good…dressed like a mime.

To top it off, Riley is forced to return to Channel 50 on official police business to question her spray-tanned news anchor ex-husband and his new weather girl fiancée.

The trouble comes to a head when Riley receives a warning from the killer: Back off or she’s next. Someone has to solve these murders before she becomes the next corpse.

Lucy score does it again. I’ve never been a cozy mysteries kind of girl, but the Riley Thorn series has changed my tune. It’s full of comedy, mystery and touch of spice. The story picks up right where The Dead Guy Next Door left off. Nick and Riley are back on the case, but not Riley if Nick has his way. He’s still struggling the trauma of just barely saving Riley just weeks earlier, and trying to keep her busy at the new office administrator for his PI business. Hoping she won’t notice. “She was in love with him. He’d taken a bullet for her, and now he was calling out her grandmother on her bullying. Nick Santiago was the *#%! love of her life.” Scary grandma Elanora comes rolling back into town as both Nick and Riley take on new cases. Hers with Weber and Nick on his own. Grandma Elanora has a lot to say about Riley and Gabe, her spiritual guide, and how well she is actually working on coming more into her gift of clairvoyance. So, Elanora does what she does best and forces everyone’s hand to her will to get Riley see how useful and of service her gift can be. This mystery is full of glitter bombs, day drinking, nosey neighbors, hilarious seniors (block some fun) and a mystery that’s explosive. Special thank you NetGalley, Lucy Score and SOURCEBOOKS Bloom Books for a copy in exchange for a review.
