Book Synopsis

Even the most optimistic volcano needs to let off a bit of steam sometimes. In this humorous and thoughtful picture book, one little volcano learns that avoiding his feelings can lead to big explosions.

Most volcanoes love to explode in a blaze of anger and fury--but not Ash! He can find the bright side of anything. Was he bothered when pirates dug holes all over him to stash their booty? Nope--he was happy to be included on a treasure map. Did he get mad when a hot-air balloon almost poked his eye out? Nope! He didn't even rumble when a bunch of loud dinosaurs showed up and stomped all over him.

Ash's family tries to encourage him to let off some steam, but nothing ever seems to bother him. It's best to keep that anger bottled up, right?

About the Author

Matt Roeser is a book cover designer, author, and illustrator living in Boston, Massachusetts. Prior to pursuing freelance full-time, he was an Associate Art Director at Candlewick Press, where he focused on designing book jackets. His work has been recognized in the AIGA 50/50 Show as well as the New England Book Show. Matt is the author of Oh No, Astro!, illustrated by Brad Woodard. Volcanope is his author-illustrator debut.
