James Wines is the founder of SITE, an environmental arts organization established in New York City in 1970. His work spans visual art, architecture, landscape and public space design, all rooted in a creative response to their surrounding contexts. He has lectured in 59 countries and contributed essays to numerous books and magazines across the Americas, Europe and Asia. In addition to the many published books on the work of SITE, Wines is the author of DE-ARCHITECTURE (1987) and Green Architecture (2000).
SITE has completed over 100 projects for public and private clients in 11 countries including nine world-renowned stores for BEST Products, a Floating McDonald's and iconic public works all over the world.
Phillip Denny is an architectural historian, educator and editor based in New York City. He holds a PhD in the history and theory of architecture from Harvard University. From 2019 to 2023 he edited the New York Review of Architecture. With Diller Scofidio + Renfro he was editor and design lead for the monograph Architecture, Not Architecture (Phaidon, 2025). His writing has appeared in Domus, Log, Harvard Design Magazine, Metropolis, The New York Times, and Architectural Digest. He teaches architectural design and history at Harvard and Pratt Institute.
