You've Already Won - by Simon Dyson (Hardcover)

About the Book

Amidst the grueling hallucinations of a desert ultra-endurance race, Simon confronts his deepest personal challenges to discover that true value and worth is never something to be earned.

Book Synopsis

A race few have heard of. A moment that changed everything.

The Munga is one of the toughest ultra-endurance races on earth - 1,150 kilometers across the unforgiving South African desert. Heat. Hallucinations. Sleep deprivation. A place where the body breaks... and the truth is all that remains.

Simon didn't come to win a race. He came searching for something he couldn't name.

As the miles unfold, so does his life - addiction, fatherhood, a marriage coming undone, and the quiet, relentless belief that he is not enough. Then, with just two seconds left, everything stops. A stranger looks at him - not the bike, not the time, not the suffering - and says three words that change everything:

"YOU'VE ALREADY WON."

This isn't a story about finishing. It's a story about stopping.

About choosing life over pride. About discovering that worth is never something to earn.

Simon Dyson is a British-born author, full-time caregiver, and founder of Billy's Farm of Hopes and Dreams - a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit farm sanctuary being built in South Michigan for hundreds of special needs adults, children, and the caregivers who love them. For 23 years Simon has devoted his life to his son Billy, who has cerebral palsy, is nonverbal, and has a seizure disorder - oxygen deprived at birth with significant brain damage. He is also the proud father of Harry and Mia, Billy's twin sister. After battling alcohol addiction as a direct consequence of caregiver burnout, Simon got sober on July 22, 2023 and competed in The Munga - one of the world's toughest ultra-endurance cycling races - 852 kilometres across the South African Karoo desert alone.

You've Already Won is his debut memoir. Every penny of net proceeds funds Billy's Farm of Hopes and Dreams - the land, the animals, caregiver respite and purposeful farm

activities for hundreds of special needs children, adults and caregivers who deserve somewhere to belong.
