Available sizes include: Child (30–50 lbs), Youth (50–90 lbs), Adult (fits most chests approximately 30"–52"), and Superlarge (fits chests approximately 50"–60").

These vests are U.S. Coast Guard approved as Type III personal flotation devices. Several listings also note a UL listing in addition to the Coast Guard Type III approval.

They use buckle closures with adjustable straps. Many models include quick‑release buckles, 1" or 2" webbing straps, and some add a between‑the‑legs (crotch) strap for extra security.

Open‑sided vests offer better breathability and greater mobility—good for paddling. Fully enclosed vests provide more security and help reduce the chance the jacket will ride up in the water.
