frame tray puzzles

Piece counts vary, but common options include 24-piece, 25-piece, and 35-piece puzzles.

Materials vary and commonly include cardboard, paper, plywood/wood, and some products described as made from eco-friendly materials.

Features that aid beginners include a sturdy tray or frame to hold pieces in place, a stiff support pad to keep the picture flat, and tray-style formats that organize pieces and simplify storage.

These puzzles commonly support shape and color recognition, fine and gross motor development, memory, hand–eye coordination, problem-solving, and observation skills.

Many frame tray puzzles use large or very large pieces and easy-grip (often wooden) pieces that are described as simple for young children to grasp and handle.

Available options include built-in storage containers or sturdy wooden trays for building and storage; some sets also include a pad with a frame that makes the completed puzzle easier to transport.

Common themes include colorful bugs and flowers, barnyard and other animals, construction and vehicles, and other vivid, child-friendly illustrations.
