Fusible fleece adds softness and stability; it bonds to backing and lining fabrics and double‑sided fleece can join top and bottom layers simultaneously. Fusible web is a double‑stick adhesive that is often pressure‑sensitive for temporary positioning and becomes a permanent, machine‑washable bond after ironing—commonly used for hems, seams, and appliqué.

Some interfacings are formulated for sheer and lightweight fabrics, others for light‑ to midweight knits and wovens, and there are specific products for t‑shirt knits and stretchy nonwoven t‑shirt materials. Regular fusible web is suited to heavier fabrics and can also bond to paper or cardboard in craft uses.

Care varies by product. Many fused bonds are machine washable and dryable, and some fusible fleeces resist shrinking and can be laundered after sewing. Always follow the manufacturer’s care instructions on the interfacing—some items may be washer‑ and dryer‑safe, while others may recommend gentle washing or dry‑cleaning.

"Lite" fusible web is formulated for sheer and lightweight fabrics. It provides a lighter double‑stick bond that can be repositioned until you iron it, whereas regular grades are better suited to heavier fabrics.

Pressure‑sensitive fusible webs have adhesive on both sides that provides a temporary, repositionable hold when you press the layers together. Ironing activates the adhesive to create a permanent, machine‑washable bond.
