There are two main types: blind-box collectible miniature diorama figure sets, and surprise craft balls. Blind-box dioramas contain pre-assembled collectible scenes/figures, while the craft-style surprise balls include small parts and resin components you assemble and cure for display.

Materials vary by line. Collectible figures and props are typically made from plastics such as PVC, polypropylene (PP), PET and ABS. Craft-style surprise balls also include resin components used during assembly and finishing.

A single blind box typically contains one mini figure set (one random design from the series). Full-set cartons are usually sold as eight blind boxes—one of each design—to complete the series.

Most Miniverse Sanrio diorama series are sold as individual blind boxes (each box contains one random design from an eight-piece series). Retailers also offer full-set cartons of eight blind boxes so buyers can obtain one of each design.

Packaging varies by series: many collectible blind-box diorama sets are labeled "Suggested Age: 13 Years and Up," while craft-style surprise balls are labeled "Suggested Age: 8 Years and Up." Craft items also include a resin-play notice stating they are not suitable for children under 8 and that adult supervision is required.

Diorama sets commonly include small furniture (tables, umbrellas, beds, bookcases, sofas), miniature food and drink items (tea, cakes, dessert carts), paper cut-and-paste props, and tiny decorative pieces such as mirrors, suitcases, cosmetics, and diaries.

Each surprise ball includes a collector's guide or instruction card with step-by-step assembly instructions and any resin recipe details. Resin components are finished by curing—either by sun exposure or with a 365 nm UV light—until the pieces harden for display.
